Smaller than expected but they worked really well! They were very light and easy to use and burned well in the fire. Incredibly durable, stayed lit for several minutes. Perhaps I received an unusual box, but the squares seemed partially dried out. Even when placed inside my wood stove on a piece of flat wood, they are hard to start with a match. Takes two or three stick matches to get them burning. Never just one match. I bought them because there price was so much less than the fire starter gel I had purchased before. These fire starter squares are decent, but nothing to get too excited about. They do light fairly easily and get the fire going eventually, but I found that I sometimes had to use more than one square to really get a strong flame started—especially with slightly damp wood or charcoal. They're compact and convenient, and I like that they’re natural and waterproof, but the performance just didn’t wow me compared to others I’ve used. For basic use in dry conditions, they work fine, but I probably wouldn’t rely on them as my go-to for camping or tough starts. Not bad, but not great—just okay. Read more

They definitely start very quickly. They burn great, and if you have dry wood, will work great for starting a fire with ease. We just bought what was supposed to be aged walnut, but its not dry, so we needed to use a lot of these to get them going. but these do work great and flame up easily. Easy to use, just light one strand and its ablaze. Super light weight, and burn I would guess about 5 minutes. Read more
