I am reviewing Firpearl Women's Swim Shorts UPF50+ Sport Board Shorts. I am 5.5, 163lbs. I ordered a Large. The material was as expected and so was the overall general fit. Snug but not constricting because there will be a slight “give” when you are in the water. The outside of these swim shorts are generous in the fit with the material. My issue and finding is with the interior full panty. It is not a brief, more bikini in style. The panty is slightly smaller. The panty should have been sized differently as it doesn’t stretch to match the outer swim shorts. I’m planning to put these on and go in the shower to “test” if the inside panty loosens to match the outside. As it stands now, the tighter interior panty creates a slight “panty outline”. Not very flattering. While the panty does prevent that dreaded crack line in the private area, the outline shows everywhere else. The manufacturer could have alleviated this by making the full panty inside a half size larger so it stretched and matched the outside shorts. To return for an Extra Large is not the solution for me as it would be too big. The garment is still very nice and I plan to keep and use it. Not many have a separate panty, many only have a panel sewn to the inside front of their swim shorts. I also plan on dropping another 5-10 pounds which will create the perfect fit. I always seem to be between sizes and not a strict 10/12, Med or Large. Bottom line these are very nice and will pair nicely with a Tankini swim top. Read more

I sized up since I wanted a higher rise waist and I don't like the compressed feel of some athletic garments. Fits perfectly for what I was looking for, but a little loose in the waist. No problem though, since I know how to alter things! Update to previous feedback. I bought 2 black pairs and one navy pair. Happy with the fit, although the construction is good, they did not pay attention to the direction of the fabric grain when cutting the fabric. The top of each pattern piece should have been laid out in the same direction since there is a definite fabric grain. To look at each pair, we see that one side half is shinny and the other side is dull. When you turn the garment upside down, the dull side becomes shinny and visa-versa. This is the same on all three pairs! I've washed them so I will keep them, but I'm VERY disappointed that the manufacturer cut corners like this, especially for the price of each pair! A lot of people wouldn't notice this, but I do and it really aggravates me. Please pay better attention to quality control and detail. Read more
