Update (Sept 2025): This camera worked great for about 12 months, then behavior became sporadic. Various times the camera would not record, and I could no longer count on it to capture video while driving. I read several reviews that also had failures after one year of usage. I did get support from their email address, and they identified an "crimped" cable inside the camera case. Since it was beyond the one-year warranty, I had to pay for a replacement camera. My recommendation is to verify your camera is working properly as you approach the one-year warranty. Original Review (April 2025): This camera is great. Just what I wanted; a simple way to record the crazy drivers on the road with me :). I watched some install videos, and that made the install really easy (15min) in my 2023 Tacoma. Camera picture is crystal clear. I really like that there are no cables and it blends in with the original truck. Two items to be aware of, and it would not stop me from buying this. 1) If you use a Mac, you will need to download a third party tool to watch the videos. There are many, but I used Elmedia. 2) As mentioned in other reviews, it’s annoying to have to disable cellular data each time you want to connect to the camera. Again, neither of these are “game stoppers” but something to be aware of. Overall, I love this thing. I had other cameras with cables running all over the vehicle and this is SO MUCH better. BTW, I did not buy the rear camera, only the front. Read more

I received this item yesterday (05/03/25) and installed it successfully a few hours ago. First of all, the packaging is protective, was well thought out, not too much useless info. I re-watched the installation video again. All pretty straight forward. The skill level required is easy to moderate. If you are the type of person who struggles with a screwdriver, don't bother trying to install this on your own. The supplied piggyback wire was easy to install, took a minute or less, attach the power to the new part and it's ready to re-install. Make sure that the old housing matches the new one, move the orange clips over from the old housing and pay attention to the small plastic protrusions in both housings and be sure they match, same angles, same placements and such. I have to say the only frustrating part was getting all the wires tucked in and out of the way of the four mounting connections. That alone prolly had me cursing for about 15 minutes then BOOM it all just slid into place, and it locked into position. don't give up and don't force anything. Upload the program on your phone but you don't have to. You can just remove the card and stick it into your laptop and then upload 'Potplayer' onto your laptop. Format the Micro SDS using either the program installed in your phone or you can do it on your laptop. I can't say the phone app is all that easy. Connecting it with the camera feed requires some fiddling but I'll figure it out. Don't upgrade the card before the set up. Get it going with what's supplied, format the card and when it's all complete, put in a bigger card if you feel the need to. Picture is amazingly clear. Overall, I'm very happy with the quality and that it's in and complete. Read more

Relatively easy to install. Record quality is good. Looks factory. Allows little room to get all the connections in the housing. One has to be very careful or the housing connection could get damaged. Read more

EDIT: Died after 6 months. The video quality is actually pretty poor too. 5 minute install and no problems after 2 weeks of daily testing. No corrupt videos, no software problems as indicated in some other reviews. In fact I am extremely surprised the software seems decent. I don't like how the stock front install takes power from the TSS module as I just don't trust adding rando circuits such as this one to the stock safety system wiring. For now I have it installed with the plug to take power from the TSS, and since it has had no problems I'm going to order the $50 adapter to give it 12V directly. I got the rear view camera which has also tested to be OK, and will now bother to install it alongside the +12V dedicated power wire I'm planning to run up through the headliner. I need to extend the rear cam cable another 10' to get to the rear of my shell, but it seems that generic rear cam extension cables will fit this system. I haven't verified generic extenders work, but it looks like they will. In summary the camera is slightly less clear than I was hoping for (as shown in other reviews), but I don't know of a better option for a new Tacoma. EDIT: Died after 6 months. Read more

Just installed this on my wife's 2021 Tacoma SRD. Image quality is good, app is OK, but I wanted to comment on the install process. Functionally, it is a good dash cam. The install process was VERY easy. The forward facing camera, literally anyone can install. It doesn't even require a tool, you just pull the housing free, unplug 1 plug, plug in 2 plugs, re-seat the housing, and you are done. If you opt for the unit with the rearward facing camera, that is also very easy. Personally, I tucked the wire up under the roof of the truck (the headliner), and then at the doors, I tucked it under the black rubber weather-stripping, and then under the panels. I removed the sun visor, the coat hooks, and the back seat hand-grabber things, but I don't think this was actually necessary, once I started tucking the wire in, it fit under the trim easily enough. So yeah, if you're daunted by the thought of installing a hard-wired dash cam, don't be! It was super easy. Took maybe an hour, and most of that was me loosening the trim of the truck, which I don't actually think was necessary. Probably a 15 minute job, other than that. Read more
