I’ve been fighting a losing battle with dandruff for years—managing it as best I could with whatever over-the-counter stuff was on hand. But about a year ago, things escalated when dry, flaky skin started creeping onto my face around my beard and mustache. It got so bad that trimming my beard left red, irritated marks that made me self-conscious every time I caught my reflection. I’d try everything reasonably available: drugstore shampoos, beard oils, even some “miracle” creams. Nothing stuck. Flakes would still rain down my shirt, and that scabby, dry look around my mustache was a constant embarrassment, especially on dark clothes. Then the ads for Flakes Anti-Dandruff Shampoo and Conditioner Set started flooding my feed—relentless, but they hooked me. Yeah, it’s pricey (that complete bundle with the scalp massager isn’t cheap), but desperation won out. I grabbed the men’s set with the included silicone scalp brush, figuring if it didn’t work, at least I’d have a fancy tool for head scratches. A month in, and holy relief—it’s a game-changer. I’ve been using it just once a week, and my dry skin is completely gone. No more flakes, no more scabs, no more dodging black shirts. My scalp and beard feel nourished, not stripped, and I can rock my full beard without a second thought. The routine is simple but effective: I wet everything down, apply a quarter-sized dollop of the cooling peppermint shampoo to my scalp and beard, massage it in with the scalp massager for a full five minutes (that brush is a beast—it digs in without irritating, like a mini spa session), then rinse. Follow up with the conditioner for another five minutes, focusing on the beard and ends, and rinse again. It stings a little at first—like a tingle from the 2% pyrithione zinc kicking in—but it’s a small price for the payoff. The scent is fresh and forest-like, not some overpowering medicated funk, which is a huge win for daily wear. The massager deserves its own shoutout—it’s soft-bristled silicone that exfoliates gently while you lather, helping the formula penetrate without scratching up your scalp. And being sulfate- and paraben-free means no dryness rebound, just healthy, hydrated hair that actually stays flake-free longer than anything else I’ve tried. Sure, the initial sting and cost might turn some off, but for guys battling chronic dandruff or beard-area dryness like I was, this is worth every penny. It’s restored my confidence—no more hiding behind hoodies or awkward beard trims. If you’re tired of half-measures, give Flakes a shot. 5/5 stars; my scalp (and sanity) thanks you. Read more

I have had a severe case of Seborrheic Dermatitis for years. It's not really dandruff flakes but more like plaque that I have habitually picked at and created scabs. I've tried everything, including prescription shampoos, steroids, creams, serums, you name it. Tons of otc shampoos. I've been using this shampoo and conditioner for 3-4 days everyday and so far, my scalp feels better. I think it's going to take some time because it takes about a month for skin to turn around and mine was very thick. I'm using Dermazen before bed to help break the biofilm and then shampoo and conditioner in the morning. The shampoo and conditionerare very think and concentrated, so you don'tneed much. I took off 1 star because the containers are so thick, that I can't squeeze them, mostly the conditioner, it just won't come out. I have to open the top and try to scoop some out with my finger. This product is far and away better than ANY “dandruff” shampoo because it gets to the root of the problem “pun intended” I have tried expensive products and cheap products and NONE have worked but This product absolutely does. I plans to buy more to have stock on hand because if there’s one thing I know is when a product actually does what it says it’s not long before they are bought out or sued into closing by the major manufacturers who’s products don’t come close and can’t compare. But it! And better stock up!! Read more

Shipping wasn't the most ideal. They got banged around quite a bit in the box so one of the bottles had a busted seal and some of its contents leaked out (minimal, but a mess to clean up). As for the product, it works great. I have short hair (typical fade with a #1 guard and hair on top about 1.5" in length). I use a dollip about the size of a nickel in diameter and that is plenty. So the price doesn't scare me, because at this rate, one bottle should last close to 60 days. By the third wash, all flakes were gone. I also noticed that the pomade I use to style my hair washes out better and faster now that I am using this product. Read more
