These are very pretty. They make our book shelf look nice, without the fear of actual fire. We have 4 kids, so it’s hard sometimes to have cute decor that they can’t break. These are nice looking, but very strong and good quality so I don’t think we have to worry about them breaking. Battery life is good, and the remote is nice when not right by the candles. I love this three piece set of plastic realistic looking candles that come in a variety of colors and a ready to use remote! I love the variety of sizes too! My picture displays only two because the third candle is placed in my toddlers room as a night light and dare I go in there and wake him? Anyway...these take two AA batteries that don't drain quickly and are easy to change without unscrewing difficult hardware. The remote comes with setting buttons such as on/off, 2/4/6/8 hr automatic shut off, brightness adjustment, and an option for a steady or flickering flame. These work well! This is a great gift idea and for a really reasonable price! I love that I can turn them on and off with the remote or even just push the timer button for automatic turn off so that I don't have to remind myself! No more manually turning my candles off before bed because who has time for that? Did I mention that they will turn off on their own? Okay, just checking! There is no need to click the on/off switch located on the bottom of the candle unless you want to do it manually or misplace the remote. This set is durable and will not break easily as tested by my toddler who likes to grab them and throw them! I have to say this is based on first impressions and compared against "Enido Flameless Candles" I bought someone about 2years ago exactly for a gift. 99% of this is the same it seems but there are a few differences where I like the Enido ones better ... There is not too much to this review I admit and I ... I dont want to say "I dont like these" ... that is not true at all ... but atm since the person who has the other ones doesn't use them much, I swapped with them and I am sure they will be happy with these. Differences (not a pro or a con... it's a personal preference): the on button switches all there of these candles on at one time ... THIS CAN 100% be a Pro to some people and heck i like the Enido Flameless Candles's way of doing it better but I say EITHER WAY is a "Pro" ... I have these spaced around my room for the atmosphere and really i like being above to (via remote and "line of sight" like a tv remote) turning one or two on and leaving the others off. This is a DIFFERENCE between the two flameless candles I have had/seen and like I said ... I cant say its a pro or a con. I just got used to the one-by-one way ... turning all three (or if a bigger # of candles from this brand, more than that) ALL ON or Off at the same time can come in handy. The other thing i noticed is the flickering ... THIS IS BY DESIGN to make it look like a candle. The Enido Flameless Candles to me look more natural (both "amber" plastic on the outside by the way) ... and i mean that like say some cheaper sound machines (... i am going somewhere here ..) ... you can hear the loop where it sounds "off" ... the same way the flickering in these just seems off .... comparing this to a sound machine .... like i heard one that the "waves" sounds robotic, like how the candle effect on these do.... hearing my OLD sound machine's "waves" it seems more natural like a candle flame would look ... that would be like the Enido Flameless Candles's I have. another difference is that (I never used this feature by the way) ... the Enido Flameless Candles's have a "candle flicker" / "just on" (think of it like a nightlight or something... not flickering at all. These do not have that but ... really that is a feature i wouldn't "need" anyway. I did test brightening these and ... roughly just guessing ... I would say they are just as light as the Enido Flameless Candles. I am not going to say I recommend NOR do I NOT recommend these. IF these are just like the others (by the way, those others cost me like $8 MORE than these) with minor differences that someone (say the all on or off, vs one by one on/off) MAY LIKE BETTER ... sure ... ok actually in that case I DO recommend these IF these "last" and i dont ...see why they wouldn't. Really the 3 out of 5 stars is due to the differences (esp say the flickering effect ... but the effect on these are NOT BAD at all) ... really i could see myself having experience with these first and then buying the other ones and my views maybe flipped around.... "it's what i am used to" i guess. ONE MORE thing is the colors of the "flame" and the plastic i choose are the same and BOTH these and the other brand's candles look rally nice.. I would just want to end this by saying despite a 3 out of 5 shown ... its really a 3.5 or so (not to get nutty with decimal place ratings) out of 5 ... the Enido Flameless Candles's i'd give a 4 out of 5 ..
