EDIT (May 13, 2017) - Five stars now. We notified the seller about our problem with the safe (see below for our original review), and they immediately responded, supplied a return label for the original safe, shipped a replacement safe, and offered to mail to us any items that are locked in the safe once they receive it. The new safe arrived a few days later, before I even had a chance to ship back the original one. We were thrilled with the seller's responsiveness and willingness to address our concerns. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I ordered this safe for my nephew (11) to keep his valuables (Pokemon cards, etc.) safe from younger siblings. When it arrived it had no packaging other than the Amazon box. It also came with no directions or even a description sheet. It seemed self- explanatory, so I kept it and gave it to my nephew without setting it up. (I thought that part would be fun for him.) He immediately shut the door with the keys still inside. Now it's locked without even having batteries or set up code. There should be an initial setup required before becoming permanently locked and should not be able to lock without a key when no batteries are installed. Poorly designed. So this is a great lock box safe. I bought it strictly to keep my handgun in when my niece and nephew are here as well as to hold my tips in until I get to the bank. This is not a safe to rely on for large sums of money and precious valuables, I have a feeling if you drop it hard enough title open. Arrived already dented. We decided to try it out anyway - and found out it is utter garbage. You are first supposed to open it by using a key - for that, you must remove a plastic panel, which cannot be removed by hand, we had to use a knife to pry it open. Then, the key gets stuck. Once the key was lubricated and began to move - you are supposed to turn the key at the same time as turning the knob (which is impossible to do, because the whole "safe" flops around as you do that). Never succeeded in opening it for the first time - and returned it. Well, may be it was the point - because the bad guys would never open it either? The overall construction is flimsy.
