Wonderful product. I just got this to replace a horrible half inch plastic sheet one, and man, what a difference. That one scuffed instantly and kept moving, but not this one. Very thin, but feels durable, and best of all, my office wheels just glide over the surface, absolutely no cups forming under the wheels. A few months ago I got a vinyl one of these mats from another store, and the wheels just sank right into it, making it impossible to move. So this Polycarbonate material is definitely the way to go. But as the box states, if yours come wrapped in a box, cut the tape with caution, while applying pressure on it with your knees, the product just slams open and can hurt you. But don't let that stop you from buying this if you need one. Read more
Finally found one that is large and strong enough for home office. Been looking quite some time to replace one bought years ago. It's been few months and still good... no cracking or sliding. This arrived rolled up in a rectangular box. Instruction was printed on box, also had a QR code for further product information. Because of the size, it was a two person job to unroll this heavy duty chair mat. Once it was carefully unrolled, it laid perfectly flat. A bit pricey, but a quality product. Read more
My husband weighs over 200 lbs and sits in a home office chair at least 6 hours a day, if not more. We have been through a lot of Chair mats in the last 12 years or so. Most dent very quickly (immediately) and develop cracks soon after that. We've had this mat more than a month and there are no dents and no cracks. I'll try to remember to update this after a year. So far, this is the best one we've had. UPDATE: The mat lasted about two years before my husband and his office chair wore holes and cracks in the mat under the wheels. That's longer than any other has lasted. UPDATE TO UPDATE: We ordered a new one to replace the worn out one. It arrived with an 8.5" crack in it. In the photo, that's not a scratch, it's a crack that goes all the way through. It's easy to return most items for replacement but this one ... there's no way we can get it rolled up again and inside the box. These are shipped so tightly rolled and wrapped that they must be opened extremely carefully! Trying to find how to communicate with a human at Amazon. No way to get it back in that box. Argh! HELP! I have used several chair mats made with vinyl and tempered glass over the last 30 years and none of them performed or held up like the polycarbonate mats by Floortex. The cheap vinyl ones develop cracks and breakup in maybe three years use and difficult to roll an office chair when used over a carpet because the mat sags under the weight of chair. The tempered glass mat we had developed a coupe of cracks after five years of use. My first Floortex mat I acquired around 2003 is still in great shape and we just got two more for the new offices. True, polycarbonate mats are more expensive than their vinyl counterparts, but in terms of longevity and performance, the higher price tag is easily justifiable. Read more
Worth every penny. This is high quality. Thick. Clear. Perfect size for my needs. I use it on low pile commercial carpeting (with no carpet padding) in my home office. I replace a floor mat that I got from a box store that faded and cracked over time. I don't expect to have that problem with this one. Read more
I ordered my 1st Floortex Polycarbonate Chair Mat for Carpets in 2016( it is the 48" by 60"). It lasted almost 4 years before cracks began appearing inside the material, a few months later they went completely thru and became an issue while not wearing shoes or socks. Since I was in the process of moving, I put up with it till I arrived at new home. So, back in November 2020 I ordered a new one. (first was purchased August 2016). Carpet was about same depth, about 1/2". I figured no issues. However, this new one should not be listed for carpets up to 1/2" deep. More likely 1/4"? 3/8"? Because at 1/2" stepping onto it just past edge or on edge causes the lip to raise up. Not a good sign. A few times I have actually tripped on the edge while wearing sneakers. Not looking forward to this happening while barefoot! The edges should be beveled to prevent this. They are not. While it will last several years it will eventually begin to crack inside material then fully through. When I got my 1st one in 2016, I weighed about 325 @ 6'2"; Mat last 4 years before it needed to be replaced. Now I weigh 280 and this mat is not as thick. so time will tell. Sorry if its all negative but in reality it isn't. Polycarbonate Chair Mats last far longer than those cheap plastic ones. I was lucky if I got a year from them before dimples began forming making it difficult to roll in a chair. Then it would crack quickly. So 4 years vs 1 year is actually good Bottom line: yes I would buy it again. In fact i need one for deeper carpets regardless. Read more
