This desk lamp comes with five small LED bulbs using its proprietary two-pin socket, with a spare bulb and a spare flower petal-shaped plastic shade for backup purposes. It is driven with wall outlet AC power, with an inline rocker switch. Each on/off cycle toggles between the three light warmnesses -- which means to turn on the warmness of my desire, I had to turn it on/off three times. The lamp works as expected, however, with a few opportunities for further improvement: First, the design: the flowers and leaves appear disproportionate, and the dull, matte green paint could be made more realistic. Second, the inline switch: since it is a desk lamp, the inline switch positioned in the middle of the power cable made it hard to reach. A switch on the base of the lamp could become more convenient. And third, the control: it would be best to have two separate controls, one for light warmness and the other for on/off, so that the warmness setting can be remembered without having to toggle the on/off switch many times. If you have a very minimal small shelf, the five-flower design might feel a little “statement” rather than “subtle” (but honestly, “statement” isn’t bad here). Also, check if the plug and switch placement work well with your nightstand setup, so it’s not awkward to reach.
