I chose this ointment for our first aid kit because it wasn't chockful of antibiotics, unlike a certain brand *ahem* This ointment instead relies on Benzocaine (an analgesic) and Chloroxylenol (an antiseptic). The effect is both cooling, numbing, and effectively treats wounds. My minor cuts and scrapes seem to heal up nicely with minimal scarring, too.
