Nice box for storing additional supplies. having the stand for your shoes/boots prevents you from being tempted to use the floor or carpet when polishing. Mine did not close easily, but a little sandpaper took care of it and it works fine. Bought one for a friend as well. Read more

It's Good. About what I'd expect for a 2020s era shoe valet. It's smaller than I remember shoe valets (my grandfather had a carnivorous one with a latch; it held tons and tons of stuff. My grandfather also wore leather dress or casual shoes near daily; I don't) but it fits my notions with room to spare. I got the hardwood version because cedar valets (from all manufacturers) have widely varying reviews. It's good for a mass produced box. The lid is probably the weak point of the box. Lots of finish nails and pieced construction where the footrest and lid meet (the screws go directly through where it's pieced; I won't use the footrest). The wood is extra blonde. Almost beech colored. It looks honeyed in the stock pics. For reference, in the box I have: Dark brown wax polish Light brown wax polish Black wax polish Dark brown speed polish Light brown speed polish Black speed polish Dark brown edge dressing Light brown edge dressing Black edge dressing Saddle soap Neutral cream polish 2 dobbers 2 brushes 1 suede brush 1 shoe horn My rags fit too. I didn't add them for a better pic. At a higher price point, I'd be unhappy but I wasn't expecting artisan, heirloom quality for what I paid. Read more

I just started getting into taking better care of my leather shoes and this shine box makes the process much easier and even enjoyable. There is plenty of storage space, everything is right where I need it! I have mine stocked with brown and black oils, a couple tins of mink oil, a 3-piece horsehair brush set, a shining sponge, and a couple cloths, plus there is even room to spare. For me, what tops it off is that I really enjoy the foot rest on top. It makes the experience better, like you're at one of those old-timey shoe shine stands. Even if you don't want to use it for shoe shining purposes, I can see the foot rest would be useful for making it easier to take care of your feet, even as simple as cutting or painting your nails, especially if you have limited mobility, trouble keeping still, or trouble bending over and reaching your feet. It would make a great gift for any of these purposes, or just as a great treat for yourself to extend the life of your shoes and having them look like new week after week. Read more

I bought this shoe shine kit because getting my shoes shined and repaired was a hassle. Airports have people shining shoes but I don't travel much and when I do, my dress shoes are packed. So - for me - I have to drive to a shoe shine place -- Leave my shoes for a couple of days - Sometimes up to a week before I can have shined shoes. In any event -- I bought this shoe shine kit so I can polish my shoes as needed. I'm happy with this purchase. The box is cedar wood and is well made. The kit comes with black and brown shoe polish -- a number of cloths. One "shine" brush and another smaller brush. The only things missing would be "daubers" - those small round sponge like applicators you can use to apply the polish. I went out and bought those separately. Also -- you only get one brush. If you have both brown and black dress shoes, you may want to get another brush to use exclusively for each pair. This will avoid streaking. I'm very happy with this purchase and happy that I can keep my shoes looking presentable without the hassle of getting to a shoe shine place. Read more

You have a hard time sliding the top off. Have to use screw driver to get it started on the right side of the lid and then a hammer to close it because the right side of lid hits a little higher and wont go in. Some reason when you try to slid in at the very last one side is just a little off, so you have to use a hammer to tap it in to close it, therefore you use a flat head screw driver to to loosen it to slid it open. It should just slide in and slide out. Tried to sand it a little, doesn't work. No good workmanship. If I had known it was like this, I would not have ordered but it just could be I got the faulty one. Read more
