Great kit to repair a Febco 765-1 Pressure Vacuum Assembly
Overall great kit that had everything I needed to quickly repair a failed/leaking 765-1 assembly. WHAT'S INCLUDE: A canopy (did not use), bonnet assembly, poppet assembly, check assembly, and some waterproof grease packets. The retainer clip and spring are NOT included in this kit. PROCEDURE: I unscrewed the bonnet using a screwdriver as shown. Some have used channel locks and other tools, but my bonnet backed out easily. Note the order of removal of old parts. To remove the retainer, depress the retainer and rotate out; note that the prongs on the end face upwards to engage the lip. Pull out the spring that rests on the check assembly, and then remove the check assembly. Remove any debris within the valve. Reverse steps to reassemble. NOTES/TIPS: I used a stainless wire brush to clean off the corrosion on the retainer clip as well as the inside threads of the 765 and the groove where the bonnet O-ring will seat. I coated the threads and O-ring seat with a light coat of silicone paste enabling the new bonnet to screw in and seat easily with no leaks. I also applied silicone paste to the stainless steel bonnet shaft so the poppet assembly will easily slide vertically for years to come. Apply a little silicone paste to the shaft of the check assembly so it slides easily in the retainer clip centering hole. Wipe everything clean BEFORE applying the silicone paste or included waterproof grease. I did not need a new spring as the old stainless steel one was in great condition, and the retainer clip just needed cleaning up. Read more
