I am extremely impressed with this winter coat. Everything about it seems to be done well. I live in Madison, WI and will be able to wear this to work on days well below zero. I’ll also use it for sledding with my kids and shoveling throughout the winter. The zipper quality is excellent, it is mid weight but very warm (warm enough that I unzipped a bit when I took the dog out tonight… temp is 18 degrees at the moment). I can’t speak to the water resistance yet but it is absolutely wind proof and the quality of it seems like it will work for just about everything. I have a North Face Parka and the quality of this is on par with that, even though the North Face cost 7x more. Little adds that this jacket has are the snow/air waist band to trap on heat and keep out snow, adjustable cord hood to basically make the hood a winter hat, and interior thumb holes to prevent air getting up the arms. If you’re considering this brand I’d highly recommend it. I’m 5’8” and 165 lbs and the medium fits perfectly with a sweatshirt underneath. Might run a bit on the small size, but only slightly. These are great jackets. I got this one and a cheaper version that had fewer pockets but a nicer lining. I had planned to return one of them but ended up keeping both. I took the hood off of this one and use it for skiing, and kept the other one with the nicer/warmer lining for casual (non-athletic) use, and kept the hood on it. Can't go wrong with either one.
