Beautiful concept!
NO SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED - just wifi internet access I saw one review that says these can't be used without a subscription, and showing a video of a pulsing light as evidence. But if you look at the manufacturer's website in the FAQ and troubleshooting sections, you can see interpretations of what pulsing light patterns mean related to the lamp's ability to access the internet. Our Italian son has made one particularly strong connection here in the US, and we wanted to acknowledge that connection with these lamps for the boys, which we'll gift them at the end of the school year before our teen goes back to his family of origin. We've registered both lamps and paired them, and downloaded the app from the Play store to test and control them. They work 100% as advertised, and it's cool to see the handwritten notes from the artists who made each lamp - what a cool touch! The midcentury modern style with wood in different colors is the best option IMHO, and the touch functionality works great, as does the remote access via the app. Read more
