Fritzzyme saved my reef :-)

Tracy Floraβ€”September 22, 2017βœ“ Verified purchase

This definitely works. Fritzzyme saved me during a horrible situation.. I've been stalling upgrading my filtration in my reef tank from an old canister filter to sump (price... yikes) and after putting off the monthly cleaning of debris from the canister filter and putting off water changes for 6 months my system began to cascade into a nosedive. Everything in the tank was releasing a slime and fish started to die.. fish I've had for over 6 years - longer than I've had my dog. I did water changes, but I think the bacteria in the live rock had died or was dying, nothing was stopping it. I ordered this stuff with 1 day shipping and arrived the next morning. I disconnected the canister and just ran the power heads full blast to really move the water and dosed per directions. By that evening the water was clearing up and the smell of death was dissipating from the tank. In 48 hours the polyps began to open and with 2 more water changes nitrates were close to zero. Needless to say, I did get a sump installed by the end of the week and the old Aquatop was on craigslist. I dosed with the Fritzzyme once a week for the next 3 weeks to start up the sump - hoping to "seed" the deep sand bed in the sump even though I used live sand and established live rock rubble. It's been just over a month and water quality is perfect. I should say I also used NO3:PO4-X as well to give the new bacteria the carbon it needs to establish just in case anyone reading this is having the same nightmare. I swore if the tank went down I was done with the whole saltwater thing, praying that it would reverse course. I would credit Fritzzyme for saving my tank. FYI... I didn't read the dosage before I purchased, so I got lucky when I ordered the gallon size. The dosage for established tanks (re-establishing beneficial bacteria and adding new livestock) is 2oz per 5 gallons, so you go through a lot. I almost gave 4 stars because I can't see why it can't be more concentrated to be smaller doses... but after my near-miss and comeback thanks to Fritzzyme (and I'm not versed in the concentrating of bacteria) they deserve 5 stars. Just be sure you order enough. Read more

It WORKS

Cynthia R.β€”October 5, 2020βœ“ Verified purchase

I used Fritz Aquatics FritzZyme 9 Nitrifying Bacteria and it worked great here's the story I have a J BJ 29 livestock one clown fish, one fire fish, one blue green chroma's, and a very small flame back and Angel 1in a fire shrimp blue hermit crab and some snails the tank has been extremely peaceful no fighting whatsoever. Then one day the flame back became a problem he's only 1 inch and after about six months. He decided every rock in the aquarium was his. Started aggressively protecting it would pick the shrimp up and drag him off the rocks. He had to go I had a 10 gallon set up with a pair of clown fish I put a divider in flame Angel on one side clown fish on the other. Had to set up a tank fast I looked on Facebook marketplace and found a 30 gallon not far from the house for $10 still had stickers on it Set it up with what I had laying around the house a very old hang on back filter and to sponge bubble filters. Made 20 gallons of saltwater. Filled the tank and ordered Fritz nine on Amazon. It arrived at 9 o'clock AM the next day 32 ounce bottle. I I poured it in let it circulate for about an hour . Put the fish in some old salt buckets . And dumped the 10 gallon tank into the 30 gallon tank sand and to large conch shells acclimated the fish and dumped him in put some old Constantine tiles from a bathroom rebuild to make some hiding places . And everything has been living happily ever after This stuff is great not only for its intended use of starting a new tank or boosting the bacterial load . But it's ability to be used in an emergency situation is amazing . It literally saved a a couple of hundred dollars worth of fish . Thanks Fritz Read more

I added my total stock of fish at to same time to a 29 gallon tank with ease.

Sheri M Edwardsβ€”August 6, 2025βœ“ Verified purchase

The media could not be loaded. I added 13 Pygmy Cory, 9 green neon tetra, 9 dwarf neon rainbow, and a dwarf honey gourami all on the same day to my fully cycled planted 29 gallon tank. Not one fatality after 3 months. Best product for a new tank set up when adding fish. I have never lost a fish since using this product. I use it regularly and always when setting up a new aquarium. It’s a miracle. Read more

Saved my tank!

OneMoreTankβ€”January 30, 2022βœ“ Verified purchase

The biggest fish in my tank died under a rock somewhere and I could not find it. The water became milky and smelled putrid. I did a couple large water changes as fast as my RO unit and pre-heater would allow. The water changes helped, but not for very long. I ordered this product with next-day shipping. The putrid smell started going away within hours of dosing this. The next day, the tank was still cloudy but I could actually see the back again. The day after that it was mostly clear again. After a week it was crystal clear, even clearer than before all this happened! I have been dosing the remainder of the bottle periodically and I really feel like it has rejuvenated my reef tank. I dosed AmGuard throughout the whole ordeal to protect my livestock from ammonia spikes while the bacteria did it's thing. I think it was a good combo. I didn't lose any other livestock. Read more
