Perfect Drafting Table

I put this together by myself in only a short time. The instructions were pretty easy to understand, although I made a couple of dumb mistakes like putting something on backward before realizing it wasn't going to work. User problem! :) Everything was there, and you really don't need any other tools. Mostly, I chose this particular model because of the drawer beneath it, the flat shelf on the side for things like a palette that you don't want to tilt, and the easy-to-clean glass, which is also a pretty blue! The glass is thick and heavy, but I wouldn't put anything really heavy on it that would put a lot of pressure in one place. Most art materials are pretty light, but the easel is not going to have the same support that a flat desk would because it's made to be lifted up. The easel will only lift so far, so if you want to use it for oil painting, you'll probably want a separate easel that allows your canvas to be more perpendicular. Still, for drawing, pastels, watercolor, and even acrylics, it's just right! I'm pleased with my decision to get this model. If I were to change ANYTHING, it would be that the drawer be a little bigger. I'm not sure if it was impossible to construct that way because of where the center bar lines up or what, but a drawer that is bigger from front to back and top to bottom (just an inch or two, deep enough to hold a sectional tray) would be nice. :) However, I do like the drawer. I leave it open a few inches and put my watercolor palette and water bowl inside the drawer while I work. It's really handy! I have not bought the height extenders. I don't feel like I need them. Actually, I need a higher chair, because dining chair height is just a bit too short. I'm currently using a piano bench at the max height until I get a new chair, so I don't think extenders are necessary, unless I just don't know the benefit of them. :) Read more

The best purchase I’ve made on Amazon in years!

I have recently purchased quite a lot of furniture and home goods online, and I can tell you that this is the real deal from a company that actually has quality control and knows what it’s doing. The bolts all line up correctly with the holes, the hardware package is thoughtfully laid out, assembly is surprisingly simple for some thing that looks so impressive when it’s done. Getting this up the stairs is a team effort as the box is about 50 pounds and the UPS man refused to bring it up the stairs. Putting this together took me two hours exactly, with just one person. You will need your own full size Phillips head screwdriver as the one they supply is kind of a joke. The other tricky aspect of this is installing the drawer slides where the diagrams don’t match the physical part exactly. But these are small problems. I am extremely pleased with this table. For $180 when I got it, it’s a pretty incredible deal. By the way, and a IKEA RASKOG cart is not going to fit underneath this without table risers. Ask me how I know. I got it to fit by removing the wheels and putting risers under the extended floor levelers. Read more

Great table, minor improvements needed

I have been very happy with the table so far. assembly was relatively easy, very sturdy, and looks good. the only improvement I can see are: 1. tray size could have been a bit bigger, and deeper 2. some easy way on the top or side to mount/attach any LED lamp When you attach the bracket which stops the glass on the bottom, maybe you want to leave it a little protruding, it helps me in keeping the paper/drawing pad from slipping down. Overall very good value for the money. Read more

Beautiful and functional

Beautiful desk! Great drawing desk. Bought separate storage as that’s the one thing I wish it had more of. But love the color and functionality of it. Read more

The table top has a weight limit of 25 pounds

This is a nice looking table once assembled and I was actually able to find a video on YouTube, which was easier to use them the manual supplied. The only problem is is the table is very lightweight and flimsy. It has a weight limit of 25 pounds on the table top which is way too light if you have any kind of equipment like an airbrush compressor. Read more

Very solid well made table

I purchased the blue glass, silver/gray frame desk. It was delivered quickly, without damage, and all the parts were present. Assembly: Building this desk is not for the faint of heart. There are a lot of small parts. The directions which come with it are quite good though. There is no text, just images showing how it should go together. My advice is to: 1. Unpack all the parts, identify them and lay them out where you can easily see them. 2. Read the instructions completely BEFORE you start building (reading them twice isn't a terrible idea). 3. There is a hardware blister pack included, instead of trying to peel the cardboard back off, use a razor or sharp scissors to cut the plastic bubble off on the top leaving the hardware in a little "cup". 4. Do exactly what the instructions show and go slow. Breathe. :D 5. An electric phillips head screw driver is a nice to have. 6. It's not an awful idea to have a spare set of hands, but it can be done alone too. I put this desk together in about an hour. Once the desk is together, it is genuinely sturdy, a manageable weight and really very attractive! The top lifts up and down easily and with smooth action. I think this piece meets and even beats my expections given the relatively low price. I'm going to enjoy it for years! I've attached two pictures. The first is a close up of the large, but shallow drawer. It's holding two layers of Prismacolor trays, and one more layer of pigment pens. The light (sold separately) is clipped easily to the back of the desk. The tablet stand (sold separately) easily clipped to the fold down shelf. The top can be raised and lowered without removing either accessory! Read more
