Excellent for light, toning of arms, shoulders, and back; best for pumping motions
These are great for light toning of the shoulder, tricep, bicep, and upper back muscles. I use them at least five days a week while walking, and they can be used for both power walking arm pumping swings or tighter 90° angle short arm swings. I also used 2 pound weights, but found that after extended walks, say, longer than 3 miles, they started to pull on my shoulders. I can use these for up to 5 miles without too much strain. I walk at a pace of approximately 3.8 to 3.9 mph, so my 5 mile walk takes about an hour and 20 minutes. By the end of the walk, I do sort of feel it in my shoulders, but I never feel any pain in the morning. These are much better designed than my former pair and have just enough room to slide my hand in. The fabric seems to be moisture wicking, and the material within is both stable and a little flexible. I don't recommend squeezing the weights, as this puts pressure on the fingers and wrists. I pretend I'm holding a chicken's egg and keep my thumb and fingers relaxed so that I wouldn't crush the egg. These are by far the best weights I have ever used, and I feel sure they could be used at home for rehab exercises or gentle weightlifting. Well worth the price. You get what you pay for.
