A great dash cam

Ken CJanuary 14, 2026✓ Verified purchase

Terrific. It's replacing a very old (10+ years) dash cam, and I'm very pleased with this new one. Much sharper image, and (like my old dash cam) it also shows location (GPS coord.), time and vehicle speed recorded onto the image (instead of just a separate file). I also like that it accepts a 512 Gb memory card, and it seems to be able to store about (roughly) 40 hours of driving time. Only drawback (a slight one) is that, instead of 5-min segments of recordings, it does 1-min segments, so any trip involves looking at a 5 times greater number of individual video files. Read more

Nice unit, connectivity with app is spotty

J LewisJanuary 2, 2025✓ Verified purchase

Unit is compact and sturdy with a very simple utilitarian design that makes it easy to use. I opted for the Garmin universal suction cup mount (separate purchase) rather than the included adhesive mount and so far it has held up extremely well. Plenty of length on the cable, though the cable is on the thin side, so it does not want to stay tucked as well as I would like. Video quality is excellent, the app is easy to navigate. My only complaint is that the cam does not seem to want to stay connected with the app. May be a Bluetooth issue specific to my setup. Read more

Can No Longer Recommend Garmin (x210) Edit: The x310 is more durable

mosincredibleJuly 18, 2025✓ Verified purchase

Both units I received had a stuck button issue. The first thought the down button was being held (wouldn't exit diagnostics screen) and the second thought the power button was being held (kept restarting). Neither of the buttons were actually jammed as they felt fine, just dysfunctional. This saddens me as I had my last Garmin for 6 years and would continue using it if it weren't for the teeth in the ball joint breaking. It's still completely functional through six Texas summers, I just can't mount it anymore. I was previously recommending Garmin dash cams to people but I guess I should stop. Edit: After noticing the x310 has different buttons from the x210, I gave Garmin one more shot because of how good my 66W was. I purchased the x310 and it's been great. Not changing my review of the x210 but the x310's buttons feel studier and not mushy. They are larger so there are only 2 and you can navigate with the touchscreen. Handling the current Texas summer right now right no issues. Turns out 4k isn't the only upgrade you get with the x310. Read more

Be prepared to hunt for a USB "data" cable that works with this camera.

Allen H.January 17, 2026✓ Verified purchase

First, let me say that I'm a fan of Garmin. I bought my first GPS in '94 to fly missions along the North/South Korean border. That demonstrates my respect for the brand. THAT BEING SAID, why in the world can't they include a USB cable that provides both power and data connectivity for these cameras? I think I have, oh I don't know, a half dozen Garmin dash cameras, including the 55's (finally died this week), 57's, two Dash Cam Lives to this X210. I don't think any of them came with a data cable that would let me connect it to my computer for registration, updates, formatting, downloads, etc. I wound up swapping out 10 of my own USB cables before finding one to connect with my computer. It's just so frustrating! Garmin, do us all a favor. Quit cheeping out on the cable you include with the dash cameras. Yeah I know, you sell the data cable we need as a $20 accessory, but that little bit of profit sure does eat into the satisfaction, or lack thereof, when I'm trying to get the camera set up to use. Anyway, the camera itself is decent. I like the resolution and frame rate options. I didn't mind it doesn't come with an SD card. I installed a 256GB card myself. On a smaller card, a specific video clip was overwritten before I could retrieve it. I did select "overwrite" so that's on me. If you are prone to extended lapses between downloading videos, do yourself a favor and opt for a high capacity card. One reason why I stuck with Garmin is all my cameras can work together, and I can use the app to manage them. The app does have it's quirks. It took some effort to get multiple vehicles and cameras set up correctly. With this new one, I'll get more training as I uninstall that old 55 and get this new X210 up and running. Frankly, my three star rating does feel a little harsh even to me. However, it's such a simple thing to rectify. Just throw in a cable that supports data, even a short one, rather than trying to squeeze out another $20 bucks. I searched thru the myriad of USB A/C cables that I have until I found one. I didn't have to buy Garmin's, but I'm still not happy I had to hunt for one. I'm just sayin' . . . Read more

Almost exactly what we’re looking for

Linda W.April 12, 2025✓ Verified purchase

I really like being able to just say Garmin save video. We like the video quality. My husband was very excited to be able to use the app and watch the videos. But then he found out that you have to have a subscription to view the videos remotely. So he has to sit in our vehicle to be able to watch the videos on his phone. But at least we don’t have to take the SIM card out and watch them that way so it’s a little easier Read more
