My biggest gripe with smartwatches is the black screen—sometimes it lights up when you want it to, sometimes it doesn’t. Apple solved that with always-on displays, but at the cost of awful battery life. The Garmin Instinct Crossover AMOLED Tactical Edition hits the perfect balance: always-visible time and multi-day battery life. I chose the tactical model upgrade for its LED flashlight—a surprisingly great feature. For screen-heavy tasks, the watch hands rotate to a flat 9-and-3 position. Mechanical hands will reduce screen real-=estate. But it’s a fair trade-off for a watch that reliably shows the time. It’s also lighter and less bulky than I expected. Simply put, this watch is perfection—the best Garmin I’ve owned and probably the best watch, period. It’s ideal if you mainly want a dependable analog-digital hybrid that shows the time plus key data like steps, heart rate, and intensity minutes. It’s not for heavy mapping or data-rich navigation, but if telling the time is your priority, this is your watch. The unexpectedly powerful flashlight is the icing on the cake. Read more

The media could not be loaded. This is a really great watch with a ton of features. I really enjoy it's a mix of mechanical and smart watch. It's big, easy to read but, a bit tricky to learn how to navigate all the menus and features. The battery life is fantastic at 14 days fully charged and so far pretty accurate. I purchased the brown and orangeish/gold not sure what to call the color but, it's very specific where the all black would fit in any situation. My only complaint was the gummy wrist band and I changed that out with a few different bands from Hemsut. Read more

Disappointed at EXTREME by this watch!!! For the high price I was expecting MORE!!!!! Garmin watches are known for their durability and multiple “outdoor/sports” uses,…. BUT when a watch is defined as “smart” it supposed to have multiple basic functions when connected to a phone: - First and most important, ability to receive and place phone calls. RELATED TO THIS, THE WATCH IS A ZERO!!!! Doesn’t have a build in microphone/speaker - Navigation is LAME, at its best!!!!! No maps…. Garmin navigation =ZERO!!!!! For this watch - Multiple built in apps/glances most of the, USELESS!!!! Few of them - Poor watch pre installed watch faces,…. If you want more options…. The prices presented on Garmin Connect IQ app are insane!!!!!! CONCLUSION: For the price, this device is a lame FAIL I am still in a humble state decision if to return this expensive FAILED MANUFACTURED WATCH Read more

I mostly love the watch, but I have recently noticed that the minute hand has some wiggle to it. It's a small amount, but enough to bother me. Read more

I pulled the trigger and upgraded from a Fitbit to Instinct® Crossover AMOLED Smartwatch with Analog Watch Hands. I loved the simplicity of the Fitbit's interface, my new Garmin is much more complex. It took some time to figure out the settings and getting use to the app but it's worth it. I love the combo analog hands and AMOLED face. Great Design. Read more

I’ve been wearing the Garmin Instinct Crossover AMOLED for a while now, and I can confidently say — this is the watch I’ve been waiting for. First off, it actually fits my smaller wrist. Shocking, I know. It’s rugged without looking like I strapped a lunchbox to my arm. Comfortable, balanced, and somehow manages to look good whether I’m working out or just aggressively checking the time. The AMOLED screen is bright, clean, and beautiful. Like, wow bright. And somehow Garmin made it work perfectly with the mechanical hands — which I fully expected to be weird, but instead are just… awesome. It’s like a smartwatch and a traditional watch went to counseling and figured things out. Functionality is classic Instinct Crossover, which I already own and love. Same toughness, same reliability, same “I could survive the apocalypse with this thing” vibe. Now let’s talk battery life. Garmin says up to 14 days. I charge it every 6 to 8 days. Could I get 14? Maybe. Do I know how? Absolutely not. Is it still great? Yes. For an AMOLED watch, getting nearly a week without panic-charging is impressive. I never think about the battery until the watch politely reminds me, and even then I’m like, “Fair enough.” It doesn’t have the mapping features of my Epix Pro Gen 2, but that’s fine. This watch isn’t trying to be the Epix. The Epix is my “mission control” watch. This one is my “put it on and live my life” watch. And that’s why this is now my go-to. It’s rugged, bright, comfortable, stylish, and somehow manages to be both old-school and high-tech at the same time. Truly the best of both worlds. Final verdict: I still love my Epix. I still love my original Instinct. But this one? This one lives on my wrist. 10/10. Would check the time again, if you want a photo look above. Read more

I find the choice of 20mm bands poor, and the case size as well. This is supposed to be a "rugged" "tactical" watch. I don't have large wrists, and coming from other Garmins and Apple smartwatches, this watch feels small on the wrist. I honestly returned it just because of that. Read more
