Quality Kit and Compatible with 8th Generation Accords

f v fDecember 13, 2019✓ Verified purchase

Excellent kit! Amazon’s guide indicated this kit would not be compatible with my vehicle application (2010 Accord EXL. V6). but I went with my gut and thankfully the seals in this kit fit the power steering pump In my car perfectly! I, like other reviews wish this kit came with the high pressure hose seal but considering the dealer quoted me $43 for just the main seal (shaped like a pear) this kit is a great value👍🏻 Read more

NO HIGH PRESSURE LINE gasket in kit.

I finally was able to have time and rebuild the pump by replacing all the gaskets. I did track down the shaft bearing, I do recommend replacing it, of course if your vehicle has over 360,000 miles like are 05 Honda Pilot, but that’s up to you. I didn’t give 5 stars due to the gasket set DOES NOT come with the high pressure line rubber o-ring. I had to end up buying it separate. I ended up getting it from local honda dealer. All and all, I only spent, roughly, $18 on bearing, $ 2.50 extra o-ring, and $30 on this rebuild kit and the pump works like brand new. Read more

Mr. Fix it !!February 18, 2018✓ Verified purchase

great P/S rebuilt kit, it repaired COLD START UP NOISE that only showed up at start up in the AM hours, a grinding/whirling/foaming fluid from p/s pump on a 04 ACCORD. thanks to this kit, i saved lots of money by resealing the pump, saved a few hundred $$ and very happy. Great Product, will continue to purchase in the future. Read more

This kit and some time will save you money

It is fairly typical that the power steering pumps on Honda/Acura vehicles tend to leak after 10 years or so. This kit repairs most of those leaks. It is relatively simple to install. Total time is about 2 hours from removal, rebuild, and re-install. You will also need Dorman 926-157 Multi Purpose O-Ring for Select Acura/Honda Models. This has the o-ring for the power steering hose. You'd be crazy to not replace that o-ring when doing everything else. While you're at it, drain the power steering pump reservoir and replace with vehicle specific fluid. There are plenty of videos out there showing you how to do this. Watch them and you should be fine. I've done this on four different vehicles and they're all leak free now. Read more

Nice to have all o-rings in one bag, but instructions are lacking

Brian SSeptember 11, 2018✓ Verified purchase

I'm a big fan of Gates and have used their products for years. I didn't price individual Honda o-rings so I can't speak to the value of the Gates kit versus buying OEM replacements. Most choices for which seal goes where were obvious (comparing o-ring size, thickness, and diameter), but I couldn't find a good fit for the high-pressure line. I had a hard time getting the high-pressure line seated without the o-ring getting snagged. I finally got it to stay and tighten down appropriately. My guesses for replacements have worked so far, the cavitation has stopped and there are no obvious leaks. The instructions, while available in multiple languages, are basically useless. Get on YouTube and watch videos of other people doing the rebuilds. Don't just watch one, because there are different approaches and some work better than others. If you're going to flush the system, I would recommend not using a turkey baster. Spend $10 and get a siphon pump (I used the red pump-handle kind). It can suck all of the old fluid out of the reservoir, and in my case (again, remote reservoir) I disconnected the return line to the reservoir from the rack and ran into the siphon pump to suck out the old power steering fluid. Also, don't over-tighten the pulley when you reassemble. This added a decent amount of time onto the job because I had to take the pump back off to get it to be able to turn again. Read more

Got the job done.

The shaft seal and gaskets appear to be holding up for now. The main housing gasket seems to be on the thin side (not much compression) but it isn't leaking so it may be fine. It's only been two months since I installed them. We'll have to wait and see if they hold up more than a year. Read more
