I don't think the bodies differ from year to year, but this GTSA-GTRELEC is a perfect fit for my 2017 PRS Vela. There are a couple inches of space above the headstock, but the body and neck aren't moving, so that's not an issue. For this particular body, you have to kind of push the middle "wall" towards the head to squeeze the upper strap button into the case. It's not a potentially damaging tight squeeze, but just enough that you know the guitar is not going anywhere, and that gives me peace of mind. Aside from that, I could probably do without the red logo and inside part of the handle, but that might help in low light, and the point of the case is to protect the guitar, which it does regardless of the color accents. I've bought a few cases lately that I was not thrilled with - the quality, the fit for the guitar...there was always something off. I have a couple of SKB cases that are on par with this Gator case as far as price (well, right now this one is a much better price) and specs, but they seem noticeably cheaper to me. Full five stars for this Gator (especially at the current price, which I believe is a sale price, so get yours now!). The latches and handle are flight-quality and solid, and the plastic is a step up from the cheaper cases for sure. Now there is some give in the plastic on the top and bottom, so it's not like this is a reinforced steel case, and with enough pressure or abuse I can definitely see it cracking or breaking, but it's solid enough that I think that's not likely, even on an average flight (there are always nightmare scenarios though), and definitely during around-the-house or around town use, unless it falls off the back of a truck. Note that I threw a few other guitars in the case to see how they fit, and *side-to-side* it was fine for a PRS SE McCarty 594, and SE Custom 24, but it left around 3/4" from the bottom of the body to the upper horn/strap button on both guitars (same as the Gator GWE-Elec cases I have them in now), so those were sliding up and down. It *was* a good fit for Squier Contemporary Stratocasters though. My Vela is not even a PRS Core, Private Stock, a Gibson Custom Shop, or some 1950s vintage hundred grand guitar, but it is something I really want to protect, and I feel a lot better with the guitar in this than the soft case it came in, and I'm very happy with this purchase. For my telecaster... I got tired of removing the neck on my guitar to fit it in the suitcase. I took the chance on this after watching videos. On my first flight, I saw them load it on the conveyor to the plane and, yes, they handled it roughly. When I got to my destination and opened the case, it was fully intact. There was a note from the TSA, so that tells me the lock was opened by them without issue. It's been on about 3 other cross-country flights and no problems. I purchased the Gator GTSA-GTRELEC case because I needed quality storage for my PRS Custom 24 guitar that would also provide durable protection in a travel environment. This case not only looks great but comes at what I feel is a fair price for the protection my guitar receives. I have owned more than one these cases in the past and they do the job well. The Gator brand has never let me down although the factory packaging is not too impressive. The fit is as advertised and the seller did a great job getting it shipped in a timely manner. This case fits my PRS SE Custom 24 like a glove and just per chance someone may want to know my Rickenbacker 620 lays in like it was made for it. Of course it goes without saying but all my Stratocasters and Telecasters fit this case like they were meant to be there. I could find no misalignment in the hinges or latches and I do love the TSA latches. I found no chemical fumes from adhesive and there are no faults in the adequately plush and well padded lining. I can’t find a down side to this case? I would be more likely to trust this case than some others to withstand a rigorous touring schedule and maybe some light tossing around by roadies. This case weighed in at 12-1/4 pounds and is obviously quite durable. For the price I don’t believe you will find a better travel case for your guitar! Read more
Love this case. fits my Shecter Omen Six perfectly, even with the strap on. Latches are smooth and snap into place well. The lock works perfectly, smoothly and easily. Storage Capacity: It has 2 dedicated storage areas, which aren't quite big enough for a large cable unless you get creative. I would have loved an area for a book, binder or large cable. There were no shoulder straps but the hand is pretty comfortable for the weight. Durability: 10/10 durable. Brought it with me on the plane and checked it a couple times. Held up quite well and only minimal scratches. I love how it stands up on it's own. I would suggest some rollers on the next model. It's still kind of heavy and I often find myself wishing I could just roll it like other baggage it's size. Read more
