Been using a DE razor since the 1990's when I was in my early 20's and became positively disgusted with cartridge razor blade prices. They were expensive even then. I started with a Gillette very similar to this. This is basically a Gillette Tech, what many consider one of the best DE razor designs ever made. I bought two and will be using them as travel razors so I don't risk getting more expensive ones lost. Just use a good quality blade. You don't need 5 blades to get a close shave, one will do it just as well. Those multi blade razors are there to make the razor companies millions. Every several years they come out with new designs because the patents expire and everyone else starts making and selling them for less money. If you get razor rash, or ingrown hairs, get one of these and a shaving brush to apply your lather, and the problem will likely disappear. If want a more environmentally friendly option, this is your huckleberry. Double edge blades are all metal, no plastic. Even if they end up in a landfill, they will oxidize, rust, and basically break down into their natural elements over time. An earth friendly option. Read more
