Incredible Performance and Control

I replaced my Eero 6+ with the GL.iNet Flint 3, and the difference is incredible. The speed and coverage are noticeably better, and the connection feels rock-solid even with multiple devices streaming and gaming at the same time. One of the biggest advantages is the level of control you get. Unlike the Eero, which locks you into a more limited ecosystem, the Flint 3 gives you advanced features like built-in AdGuard for ad-blocking, powerful VPN support, and customizable settings that are easy to manage through its interface. Setup was simple, but it also offers tons of flexibility if you want to dig deeper and fine-tune things. Build quality is excellent, and I can already tell this router is built for the long haul. If you’re coming from an Eero or another consumer mesh system and want something with more power, privacy, and control, the Flint 3 is absolutely worth the upgrade. Read more

Big bang for the buck.

Excelente router. Very fast Wi-Fi. Setup was very easy. I use OpenVPN and Wireguard. Both were easy to set up with really nothing to configure. I asked my VPN provider for a configuration file with my streaming IP and I dragged and dropped the file in the corresponding place and tapped on start, easypeasy. They have an app to monitor and make changes to the settings. The MLO is very nice. My Samsung Galaxy 25 Ultra supports this and it's super fast and because it supports 3 bands, it's has very good range. Even though it's kind of pricey, it packs a lot of bang for the buck, especially with the OpenVPN and Wireguard throughput. I have 500 up and down and I'm getting Wireguard speeds of 350 up and down, OpenVPN speeds of 250 up and down. So I'm pretty happy. Read more

Best router ever.

Best router I have ever had. Setup very easy, all 2.5gbe and wireless 7 makes me feel generations ahead of my old router with openWRT. The interface is familiar but it’s easy to use. I think given the performance and range it’s a fantastic value compared to a closed source router which will have an end to firmware updates. It was cheaper than the closest openWRT quad core which didn’t have the wireless 7 chip, I sent back a wireless 7 access point that was almost as much. I’m in a small apartment but there are different transmit settings for range, but in a small apartment I get excellent coverage. It’s arm so it uses little power, either open source at the core, it’ll have a long lifespan as it’s a next generation platform with connectivity or 4x lan 2.5gbe, 1 wan 2.5… I have gig wireless, so I’d be at the edge of a 1 gig connection, but the time I need a new router this one will do all I need. The usb port has a 6tb external drive for blu rays to stream over Ethernet and WiFi, it’s also a local cloud, I might get a usb raid drive and use desktop backup software. So a lot of connectivity. A great tri-band WiFi 7 for the price

The Flint 3 seems like a great WiFi router for the price. The OpenWRT firmware is very clean and easy to set up. I was able to get all three bands (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz) and multi-link operation (MLO) working in a few minutes. I haven't tried any of the more advanced features like VPN or the built-in applications like AdGuard, Tailscale, or ZeroTier so I can't speak to how well those work. I also haven't tried the Network Storage feature. I got it as a replacement for an old Linksys WRT1200AC (WiFi 5) that seemed to be slowly failing. The WiFi signal from the Flint 3 seems noticeably stronger than what I was getting with the WRT1200AC, particularly the 5 GHz band. Read more

Good 2.5G router with 6Ghz and a ton of features, disappointing WiFi range and USB 3 port speeds

Get this is you want a super reliable 2.5G router with WiFi 7, 6Ghz, adguard, vpns, and about every feature that any home or small business user would want. Do not get this if you want really good WiFi range. It is usable but not great. The WiFi will cover my 2000ish sqft house with the router in the very center of the house, but just barely. If the router was nearer one end of the house it would not come anywhere near covering it. This router has about half of the wifi range of my ISP provided TMobile modem/router. Also if you want to use the USB 3 port to setup an external hard drive or thumb drive as a basic NAS the speeds are not great. Transfers can spike to like 100mb/s, but after a second they drop to about 30mb/s. I have tried several different drives, even ones that have speeds of 200mb/s+ when connected directly to my PC, all do about 30mb/s connected to this router. I tested this with drives formatted in NTSF, EXT4, and exFAT, it did not seems to effect the speeds. Perhaps this is something they they can improve through a firmware update at some point. Overall I am pretty happy with the router. It has been a very solid 2.5G router, I have had zero issues with long 260MB/s transfers to and from my home nas. I think that it restarted itself once in the month that I have been using it. The interface is excellent and it can do basally anything that you would want. Very easy to use adguard and vpns, I have been using it with PIA, it has been working very well, I have not really even noticed any decrease in speed or increase in latency, although I am sure there was some impact. Other then the limited range wifi is pretty solid, 6GHz works well and is certainly faster then 5Ghz, but you have to be pretty close to the router to get all that high of speeds due to the weak Wifi. WiFI 7 is pretty cool, it works with most old devices they just run on the bands that they support. The only device that I have that does not work with it is a 7+ year old Amazon Kindle paperwhite, and I can just connect it to the straight 2.4ghz band. Also I like that this company seems committed to very long term firmware support Overall a good router, but falling short of being great mostly from the poor wifi range. If they could improve their antennas or something and get like 50% more range it would be pretty great. Also this is a fairly minor complaint but I really feel like the USB 3 port is too slow at 30MB/s to be all that usable for a NAS storage device, it really needs to be able to handle something like 100MB/s sustained speeds. The main reason why the poor range on this router really bothers me is because my old router, the one provided to me with my TMobile Home internet has really exceptional range. It can be at one end of the house and easily reach though the whole house 50ft through like 5 walls to the other end of the house. It also reaches like 100-150ft out into the yard. It was made by Nokia so I guess it makes since that they would really know how to make some exceptional antennas. While this router placed in the very center of the house just barely covers the whole house, and does not really reach out into the yard at all, so it has less then half of the range of the old router. I live out of town so this is not from interference. So I think that the antennas on this router are just not very good. Overall a decent router and recommended if you do not mind the mid WiFi range.
