The media could not be loaded. I was pleasantly surprised by this Glocusent 5W Clip-On Light. At first, I thought it was a bit larger than what I usually prefer for a quick smaller usb port bedside lamp, (have owned 2 smaller versions with only 3 preset brightness settings, so this was big step up in size and features.) but after using it for a few weeks, I’ve come to really appreciate the design and flexibility. My old light plugged directly into a USB port with no cord, but it was a little shakey and “janky” and didn’t offer much control. Plus since that was touch sensitive, may dang cat would sometimes brush up against it and turn the old model on, often around 3am. This new lamp, powered by USB, gives you far more options — five color modes, five brightness levels, and a handy remote. The construction feels solid, and the materials and workmanship seem top-notch. One small gripe: the indicator LED is *very* bright. I like my room pitch-black at night, and that tiny green light was reflecting on the ceiling like a mini flashlight. I fixed it easily with a piece of Scotch tape and a black marker so it’s still visible but no longer distracting. A simple fix, but worth noting for those who sleep in total darkness. The light output itself is excellent. On full brightness, it’s more than enough for reading or detail work (even clipping toenails before bed!). The lower dimming steps are nice, though I do wish it had a true rheostat-style adjustment for even finer control. Still, the range covers most needs. The remote is convenient, especially for the timer function (which I believe only works from the remote), though it’s nice that the lamp also has onboard controls in case the remote goes missing. I’m planning to order a couple more for my dark office where I read schematics and blueprints — the adjustable tone and brightness are perfect for that environment. All in all, a solid **four-star** product. Great value, well-built, easy to use, and versatile enough for both home and work. I’ll likely be buying more as Christmas gifts for family — even my great-grandmother and 2 year old grankids could operate this without confusion or troubles. The media could not be loaded. This clippable LCD light is wonderful. It's nice and heavy duty. The clamp on it is very strong and will not wear out very quickly. It's nice; it's got a strong resistance. It's actually a little tough to clip it, so it'll definitely stick to whatever you clip it to, that's for sure. The bendable arm is nice and thick. It's wrapped in a material that will not wear away quickly. It can bend and hold any kind of shape that you want to bend it in. As for the light itself, it's got every feature that you want in a light like this. I'm going to be using it clipped to the cupboard or the cabinet above my desk space because I'll be using it for additional lighting, for doing finer work, and for reading. All three spectrums of lighting is adequately bright, and you don't only have three options-- you sort of gradually move along the lighting spectrum, both in brightness and in color warmth. It's got a full range of lighting options from a warm, yellow light to a more bluish light, and then more of a neutral bright light, like a light during noon, the middle of the day kind of light. The "heat" of the lighting is perfect at both ends. It also has a reading pre-setting—there's one button just for reading, and it adjusts the bulbs to a color of light that's ideal for reading. It also has a wonderful feature for a timer. So if you wanted to set it for an hour or whatever, you can set it and forget it, and it will turn itself off. It comes with a great quality remote, as well, that allows you to use ALL of its functions without having to touch the lamp itself directly. I also really like that if you bend the neck and kind of straighten it out, and then just bend the lamp portion over, you can actually balance the clip to stand upright on your desk. It was really important that I had a light that was clippable and bright enough, but also could sit on my desk next to me if I wanted it much closer. The fact that it's able to balance shows how strong and heavy duty the clip is. All around, it's awesome.
