I’m not wanting to usually write reviews. But this worked exceptionally well. I had a hood of a side-by-side that somebody hit multiple things. It had eight breaks completely through the plastic. I use this welder and voted from both sides as it was broke completely through and I was going to use plastic body filler anyway when I was done. If you have a vehicle that needs plastic repairs, this is the ticket. The parts are not available for my. I was pleased with how well it worked. The plastic was a quarter inch thick so it may be a little harder on thinner material but it worked great for this. See pictures that worked exceptionally well, could not ask for anything more. I ordered this on the recommendation of a similar item by a you tube chick mechanic and she was right >> A good tool to have and it comes in very handy! We are selling an rv and when servicing the ac unit, the cover cracked in a couple of places. I brought this tool out and we did a fine job of repairing it using the plastic welder, drywall tape, and epoxy. I have also repaired one of those plastic Adirondack chairs and a small toolbox. (No epoxy or drywall tape needed) When my brother and sister saw what it can do they thought of a bunch of things they could repair. Super easy to use, but you might want to try it out first on something you don't really care about. Put the wire staple/clip in the two brass gun prongs, then depress the gun trigger, let the metal get hot and barely press into your project repair piece. Be careful not to push in super far because you can go straight thru the plastic. If you do it's ok though. Just pull the staple back up to the level you want it and once everything cools the staple will still do it's job. Let up on the gun trigger and the melted plastic and staple will cool some. Then release the gun brass prongs from the staple ends by pulling up after everything is mostly cool. Weld from the back so you don't see all the clips if that's important. There are a LOT of repair clips included in this kit. Light and heavier gauge metal on a couple of them and inside and outside corner repair clips. There was also a complimentary pair of small side cutters when I purchased mine. You will need these to clip off the ends of the repair wire that are sticking up after letting the wire cool Modern plastics are great in many ways, but are kinda stupid for a lot of purposes. At least some brainiac came up with this repair solution. One of my sisters fixed her x boyfriends bumper years and years ago just melting the plastic back together with a soldering iron. Imagine if this were available then. The first welder gun I received was not assembled or machined correctly and I returned it for a replacement. You might want to check out the kit as soon as you get it instead of waiting until the first time you need it to open the package. Price is good. However, this works on only certain plastics. Not all plastics. Some plastics, like totes, it melted all the way through and didn't hold the plastic together. So maybe they could include a list of plastics it can work for and maybe include a pair of flush cutters also to clip off the excess wire ends. Otherwise, not bad for the price Read more
