I have a variety of different Nest cameras around the house. I like this gen 2 model because the improvement over the outdoor gen 1 model's video quality is obvious, at least to me. I love Google's 24/7 recording for 10 days with the optional "advanced" plan because even if the camera didn't pick up motion, you can still go back and review what happened at any point in time for 10 days, with 60 days of event recordings. I also love the new AI features that can identify people, animals, and what they were doing in each recording. For example, "rabbit hopping in the yard", "five deer roaming on the front lawn", and "someone entering the shed holding a shovel" are just some of the descriptions I have received. And the daily summary with the AI feature is amazing. These cameras are great if you love being in the Google ecosystem. They are easy to set up in the Google Home app and their wi-fi signal has been rock solid for me. Near perfection, I just wish they went to 4K this time. Read more

I installed my first Nest Outdoor Camera years ago and it worked perfectly until I retired it and replaced it with the Google Nest Cam Outdoor Wired 2nd Generation. I wanted the newer technology and appreciate the improvements in video clarity, field of vision, alerts quality, etc. I was also surprised pleasantly by the price. I would suggest a good 90 minutes to thoughtfully set-up and install this camera. Take your time and follow the instructions as they are written and you will have little difficulty...but it does take some effort so don't rush. As much as I loved the original I have to say this was a great upgrade and now considering ordering one or two more at the current price point. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Read more

First thing's first: I've used Nest cameras for years both personally and professionally. I feel these are the best cameras you can buy for their intended purpose. That said this is a newer version (2nd Gen) of the Google Nest Cam Outdoor. From an image and field of view standpoint, this camera is an improvement over the prior model, no question. I've yet to find a practical use for Gemini AI on these cameras. I guess that's just the newest "me too" that everybody is adding to electronics. What I really don't understand is why Google affixed the power cable to the camera so it can no longer be removed. The prior version had a power cable that attached magnetically and could be detached. I have uses for these cameras in both configurations. Now I have to buy two different cameras to achieve the same result. It's not a deal-breaker for me, but it is an irritant. I was weary when Google bought Nest as they, in my opinion, have a habit of "improving things" unnecessarily and a track record of losing interest and dropping products I've come to depend upon (Nest Protect for example). So I may be predisposed to being irritated with their changes. But I think they took a 5-star product and made it a 4-star product. You can decide for yourself. Again, in summary, the image and field of view are improved. Not sure why they changed the power cable design and added Gemini AI. Read more

Everything worked as advertised. Adding cameras to google account was a breeze. Installation was a dream. It's about 50 feet from my router to the cameras and connection is solid with no disruption. I can see nothing happening in my yard and my car just sitting there in my driveway with such clarity. It may be more exciting for you if there are "goings on" in your nabe. I almost forgot -- the microphones on these things are crazy amazing. Picked up a long conversation across the street from my driveway (a good 40 feet) crystal clear - not like I was eavesdropping or anything. Just saying. Read more

I have been using nest cameras for 10 years or more. And the 2nd generation capabilities are amazing. Unfortunately the wired version has an issue. It will not allow you to set up notifications. I spent the better part of a day on the phone trying to make everything work. The battery cameras work great, however you can not have them record 24/7. It is a real conundrum since I had one area that I did want 24/7 coverage. I really hope Google gets their act together and figures out the software issue they are having. If anyone figures out a way around this issue I would appreciate being contacted thank you. Read more
