I've been looking at permanent outdoor lights for a few years now, and ALMOST pulled the trigger on a set of Govee Outdoor Lights Pro earlier this year, but the timing wasn't quite right. As soon as I saw the Prisms, I knew it was what I wanted. They are a bit expensive for what they offer, but they also use 3 LEDs per light pod, AND have optics for light focusing... when you look at it that way, each strand (which has 6 pods) has 18 LEDs included (vs the Pro with 10 per strand). I found a couple of videos of them on YouTube comparing them to the other Govee permanent options, and noted the biggest downside - the lights were spaced way too far apart compared to the Lights Pro or Lights 2 options, which left large "blank" spaces between each of the lights. I took this into account, and ordered a 200ft set instead of a 150ft set that would normally cover my home, and started planning... I wanted to use the Prism lights, but I wanted to shrink down the spacing. When the lights arrived, I measured the cable distance between each LED light, which was just about 30-inches. I did some testing, and found that between 18-inches and 24-inches gave me the desired effect that I wanted, and with a bit of calculation, I found I could space them 18-inches apart and have a few spare while covering everything I wanted to cover on my home. I ended up ordering cable raceway to manage the extra cabling that would be leftover when doing 18-in spacing, and I went about designing and 3D printing covers for each of the Prism light pods in white ASA filament. The end result is an absolutely STUNNING visual effect with smooth transitions between lights and nearly zero "dead" space between the lights. Pros - * The LED effects that the Prisms offer are literally unmatched by any other brand/manufacturer of permanent outdoor lights - these pods are AWESOME! * All of the components themselves are very well thought out - each pod uses 3M VHB tape (high quality stuff!), the cable splicing connectors are very cool, etc. * The Govee app is actually incredibly good compared to many others for customization! Cons - * They are expensive, though for what you get overall (including the forementioned optics per pod, and mult-LEDs per pod) I think they're reasonably priced. * I'm not sure what Govee was thinking with the spacing being 30" between lights - it leaves way too much blank space between the lights, which looks worse than the Lights Pro option to many (myself included). * There isn't anything included for wire management, which means you'll need to find a solution to tidy the wires between each pod. Overall, I'm INCREDIBLY happy with the Prisms, with the caveat that I had to customize my install to make them what I wanted. The addition of cable raceway makes the install look clean and professional, though it does add to the cost of the overall system, and the light covers that I designed and printed finalize the professional look. If you're wanting a cheaper that's easy to stick up and go, I would probably recommend looking at the Lights Pro, but if you want the coolest LEDs in the neighborhood, and are willing to put the work in to make them the best they can be, I think they're absolutely worth it! The media could not be loaded. Super happy we went with the Govee Prism and not the older models. This version was much easier to install especially for splicing, when you want blank lines connecting to trims where you don’t want lights. Rather than the older models of having to splice with wire cutters, heat gun etc, the Prism model makes it way easier by cutting/pulling back to expose the wire where you want to start the blank line and using included splice connectors. The other end of splicing connector is already setup to be connecting to the next string. If you have peaks for your home, a good tip we learned watching online videos before setup is to start at the tip of the A frame for the peaks and screw down the lights til you hit the end. This makes the layout much more aesthetic rather than starting at the bottom end and going up. While your up on the higher peaks, hubby liked to use the adhesive backing (clean off surface area with rag before sticking adhesive for better contact) to help stick up on the facia board to help free up his hands to hold the screw and drill because holding the light switch, screw in place, hammer and balancing on the ladder was way too hard. Another good tip we learned is to test each string on the ground to make sure it works before screwing up on the facia boards so that you won’t need to take it down if the string light doesn’t work. Also take off the protective layer after the string lights are all working so you don’t have to do that while up on the ladder. Connecting to the app was a breeze especially when you have good WiFi connection next to the control outlet. The brightness and the 3 colors to each light switch was truly impressive when comparing to the older models. Glad we went with the Prism over the other models even if it was more costly, the setup & light output exceeds the cost and headache when splicing with the older models. Read more

These were fairly easy to install. Did the front of our house (100 ft.) in about 3 hrs. Do not show as they are tucked under the eaves. Huge variety of patterns to choose from on their app and you can create your own patterns and share them. The lights are not too bright (don't glare into neighbor's windows) and they seem sturdy and should las a long time. Having a good time choosing patterns for New Years. Read more

The media could not be loaded. Awesome lights. Be sure to plan out your installation before you start. I cut 2x3 lumber in half then painted them to match the soffit paint color. Then I installed the wood rails with wood screws to the rafters in the open soffit. I had to add one of the extension cords included with the light kit to make the jump from my lower roof to upper roof. Also had to cut the light string in a few places and use the waterproof splice kit included with the lights for a clean installation. Splice kit was easy to work with.
