I got this for my baby 6 months old daughter. I thought she will play with it when she will be older, but it's one of her favorite toys now. Most of the times she hits it with her small hands fascinated by the cymbols sound, but sometimes she can actually hold it up and swing it a little bit. The cymbols are totally enclosed in a nice thick plastic and the child is not harmed in any way. This is a great designed toy as it produces natural tambourine sounds and also protects children from getting hurt. Besides that this is a wonderful and fun toy for parents as we can use it to play songs. I would definitely buy this toy again! I was glad to read the questions and discover I wasn’t the only one to think I was getting four. When mine arrived I realized two things: 1. The description did say they are sold separately; and 2. An instrument of this quality couldn’t have been made cheaply. This is an instrument that will last for many years in a home setting and for use by many children in a classroom. There’s a slightly larger percentage of noise compared to ring than in a fine adult tambourine, but the sound is every bit as good as other child-size tambourines. The plastic cover over the jingles is well-designed and adds safety without diminishing sound quality. I strongly recommend this tambourine for nursery and kindergarten classrooms and for other people whose cognitive abilities preclude an adult tambourine. Read more

Got a green one for a grandchild and found value in it after it arrived. The metal discs are protected behind clear plastic windows, which means a young child is also protected against accidental injury from cuts. The percussive sounds are a bit muffled, but the child has nothing else to compare it to and enjoys it immensely. The handle is sized for little hands but is suitable for an adult to use for accompanying the child who has shifted attention to other musical noise makers. A kid who really wants to see how the toy works could be disappointed and may loose interest as mine did. The percussion elements are neatly covered and it's basically a nice rattle. On the upside, this toy seems very safe, well-made, durable and produces bearable noises. The plastic feels very smooth and makes the rattle pleasant to hold. Older kids could want more then just a rattle. I wouldn't hesitate to give this as a present for a very young child, perhaps 6-24mo old. Read more

My little one is less than a year and she loves this product. It is so much fun to shake and bang against other toys. It has a great handle so it is easy to grasp. It isn't too heavy either, which made it easy for her to play with right away. If you are looking for a toy that makes a great sound and teaches children how to make music this is a perfect toy. Bought this for my 6 month old and 3 months later, this is still her favorite toy! Durable, well-made, and up to all the shaking, dropping, and mouthing of baby. The covered cymbals protect her tongue from abrasion. And the sound? Actually quite lovely and muted. Not harsh or remotely annoying. Pleasant for all times of day, even those pre-coffee mornings! I got this for my daughter for Christmas. She was about 10 months old at the time, and LOVED LOVED LOVED it. It is still one of her favorite toys. She is almost a year now and can hold it up and swing it a little better but even if you lay it on the floor next to the baby they can pat and pound it to make the cymbols sound. They are totally enclosed in a nice thick plastic so they still make noise if it's laying down on the floor. This also protects the cymbols from damage and protects children from getting hurt. It's also fun for me! I put it by my foot when I'm playing guitar and tap it with my toes while playing. My daughter loves when I play her songs and this just adds to the fun. I would suggest this to anybody young or old and can see this sticking around for years to come. It is really well built and was worth every penny. This tambourine is made well and the small cymbals are fully enclosed with multiple slits for sound to come out. There are no sharp edges and it is easy for my 10 month old to hold. He is not too interested now, but I bet he will as he gets older and can interact with music more. You only get one, which I expected since it tells you there is 1 item in the product info area. I got the green color and it is medium lime green color and the clear plastic is very clear. Read more
