I'm a fan of the idea of steam cleaning to reduce chemical use in my home. The product description and photos showing sparkling clean results intrigued me. I imagined high-pressure, high-temperature steam effortlessly stripping away grime and grease, leaving everything shiny and clean. Unfortunately, reality fell a bit short. The steamer's build quality seems decent, but the power indicator was broken right out of the box. It took a few minutes to heat up, as stated in the manual, but there's no indicator to tell you when it's ready to use. Similarly, there's no low-water indicator, so you have to wait and see if steam starts to escape from the safety cap to know if it needs a refill. I also found many tasks quite difficult and awkward to perform without the included flexible hose. I attempted to clean my kitchen sink and stovetop, both of which had layers of grease. They were cleaner afterward, but not sparkling clean. There are a lot of options in the steam cleaner market. I'd suggest doing some research and comparing features before making a purchase. At this price point, this particular steam cleaner wouldn't be my top recommendation due to its lack of key features and the durability concerns I experienced. I'm honestly not sure what to make of the product that I received. The box was sealed, dry, and undamaged. All of the accessories were in new condition. The steam cleaner itself was in a plastic bag with a foam protector on the nozzle. This *had* to be from the factory, since it took knowledge to place all of the contents into the tightly packed box so that they fit. Imagine my shock when I unwrapped the carefully bagged steam cleaner and it was dripping with liquid and covered in a white-ish powdery substance. Hopefully the liquid that I got all over my hands was just water and the white stuff is innocuous. Spent the next few minutes washing thoroughly, and have banished the unit to the garage. Yikes! Maybe I'll take it outside and try it far from the house with a long extension cord. Not sure yet. Read more
