My son has a terrible time staying focused and as such he is prone to paying little attention to things like open bottles of water on the table where his electronics lay in a pile. We managed to secure his new Meta Quest 3 in this carrying case just in time because that open water bottle went down and it would have drenched his Quest, but this case saved it and not a drip got through, so I am thankful for that. Thus, we can consider the waterproof claim tested and working wonderfully. The case is a good size. It easily fits the Meta Quest and the controllers even when those controllers have saber extensions attached. There's also a netted compartment that can hold a few more small things as well. The zipper is a little tough to pull around the case, but it is a nice material that has a quality feel to your hand. Something that annoys me a little bit is the fact that the carrying strap is on one side of the case instead of straddling the middle. The way it's designed, it may not be feasible to put the carrying handle in the center, but it feels unbalanced when you're carrying it. The way I see it - they came up with a novel design for enabling the top to flip over and go underneath the bottom with the zipper attached, so they could have come up with a novel way to put the carrying strap in the center of the case. This rings especially true for me, since I feel like an unnecessary amount of time and effort went into allowing the base to fit into the top - a feature that adds complexity without any real benefit, and honestly one that I don't find useful at all. When storing the empty case, I think it looks better when it's stored closed. It feels as though the feature was added simply for the sake of clever novelty, not because anyone ever asked for, or truly needed it. That's just me though, maybe everyone else thinks it's awesome. I think the main issue that I have with this case - what brings it down to four stars for me - is that anyone that spends this much money on a case thinking that it's truly a "hard" case as advertised is going to be sorely disappointed. Sure, it's hard in that if a child throws a baseball at it from 10 yards away, the equipment in the case will probably be OK, but it's not hard in that if you were to stand on it as a person that ways any more than maybe 75 pounds, you would most certainly crush anything in the case. I most definitely wouldn't trust it to hold up at the bottom of a stack of suitcases. If, because of your use case, the aforementioned issues don't bother you, then I'd wholeheartedly recommend this carrying case. After all, it saved my son's Quest from certain death, and for that I will be forever grateful. Read more

This case does as advertised, but it's just ok. It fits a V3 (tested) with a larger third-party head strap, but there's not much room for any additional accessories. It seems to provide good protection but is very large. It has two "modes" of use, one as a tray for home storage and another as a travel case. I don't find myself using it at all as a tray for home storage, instead my VR sits on a charging dock when at home. When I convert it to tray mode, it becomes very large since the base rests inside the top. For travel, this takes up almost all the space inside my carryon sized suitcase. I can't see myself checking it since the device has a lithium battery and I can't see myself using it as my only carryon. For road trips, it may work okay but I'd probably just throw the headset (without a cover) in my suitcase and let my clothing protect it. At the price point, it doesn't seem to be a great value. I got this hard case for a virtual reality headset and its controllers because the original packaging was not practical for travel. The shell feels rigid enough to handle bumps in the car or in a crowded room, and the zipper moves smoothly without snagging. Inside, there is shaped space that holds the headset securely so it does not slide around, plus room for straps and small accessories.
