I understand they are going for a mid century modern look, and I will give them credit there. It definitely has a bit of nostalgic charm when you see it set up. In terms of build quality, it appears well made. The base has a good amount of weight to it and is felt lined on the bottom so you are not putting bare metal directly onto your desk. There is a slight backward angle to the center pole, which gives it a subtle design touch and helps position the light nicely. The arm that holds the bulb connects to the main arm with a screw and cylinder design. There are no teeth on the cylinder, so the angle is essentially infinitely adjustable. You can set it wherever you want and it stays put. The shade itself also pivots, so you can direct the light in just about any direction. Everything feels solid overall. There are small ventilation holes in the back of the shade, which I assume are there to help dissipate heat. It is a nice detail. The only part that feels a little underwhelming is the on off switch. It is located on the back of the lampshade and operates with a twist knob. It works fine, but it feels somewhat flimsy compared to the rest of the lamp. I wish they had used a slightly more robust switch given the price point. I have been using it for about a week with a smart bulb and mostly turning it on and off with my phone (a standard light bulb fits this).
