Thick and firm, my knees and back do not hurt using this pad. Wide too so when doing bridges my elbows and arms are eniterely on the pad. Best part is tĥe yoga pad does not slip on pergo floors and totally eliminates the slip hazard of lesser quality pads. The last great thing about this non skid yoga pad is when doing planks my toes and arms/elbows do not push and elongate the pad which eliminates the dangerious body elongation which can cause back injury thus this yoga pad makes for firm stable contact on the pads surface. Well worth the expence for a high quality yoga pad. Storing the pad on its edge against a wall and a chair back makes for easy storing and use as keeping the pad fully open allows for the pad to lay totally flat & not curled when needed. Read more
I'm very happy with the quality of this mat. I wanted a thick mat, and this is it. I can kneel on it or press my elbows into the matt comfortably. The grip is good -- not too rubbery but not slippery either. I can't imagine using a thin (5mm) yoga mat after using this thick mat. It's fairly easy to transport. But being a thick mat, it won't roll up as small as a standard yoga matt, but it does get fairly small. It won't fit in a backpack or purse. You'll need to carry it under your arm. The only issue I have is that it comes unrolled easily. I wrap a belt around it when I need to take it somewhere. The other thing I like is that is rolls out flat. Well, actually, it retains its shape a little, but I flip it so that the ends bend towards the floor, and then I lay on it. But it's heavy enough to flatten itself out after about a minute. Which brings me to my next point, which is that it's heavy. The foam is dense, and there's a lot of it. But this is exactly why I love this mat. I can do all my yoga poses and stretching without hurting my knees or hands or elbows. And the foam is easy to clean. I just wipe it with a damp cloth. The foam is totally water-resistant. So, if you want portability, buy a regular 5mm foam mat. But if you want true comfort, buy this high-quality mat. Read more
I ordered this for my home practice of Pilates and stretching. My TPE yoga mat is not adequate for Pilates, as it's too thin (although it is excellent for yoga). At my gym, we use the Balanced Body Extra Thick (5/8") mat for our Pilates & stretching classes. I was going to get the same mat, but I recalled reading that you could use a 1" mat for home practice. In the past, I ordered a Retrospec Solana 1" Yoga Mat, but returned it as I didn't like the feel of the foam and had doubts about it durability. After much searching, I found this mat. I decided on it because it was also wider than traditional mats. I wanted a 1" thickness, but I thought the 0.8" was a nice compromise given the extra width. I received it yesterday, and I couldn't wait to practice last night. It was nicely packaged, and it came with a carrying strap. I did a 30 min mobility session (Cathe's Lift, Move, Restore Functional Pilates Fusion workout). I was in heaven, and I couldn't believe I had waited so long to get a thicker mat! For me, the sense of proprioception was out of this world! For example, in a prone leg lifts were difficult in class (even with a Balanced Body thick mat). However, when I did them on this mat, I was really able to ground my pelvis and engage my glutes. I also noticed that I had a greater sense of my body in space during down dog. I was second guessing my purchase given the relatively high price, but my fears were squelched! I don't regret this purchase at all, and I am looking forward to using for restorative yoga, meditation, mobility, stretching, and Bala Bangle work (barre, Pilates, etc). Read more

I LOVE this mat!! Looks and feels great! The smell was minimal and it is a high quality mat. I need the extra thickness for my knees and it's perfect. It flattened on my wood floor nicely and does not slip. Read more
Measures 3/4”, not 1” as listed, but one thick, dense, comfortable mat. I actually like the 1/2” one by the same brand better since it rolls up more easily and unrolls flatter, but this mat is the thickest, most dense mat I’ve found yet. It’s fantastic! With wood floors and no carpet, all other mats did not provide enough cushioning to be comfortable, but this one certainly does! It is more expensive, but for good reason. A bit hard to store since you cannot easily roll it back up (and then would need to let it flatten again), so best if you have a place to store it flat. And not the best solution for bringing with you as it is heavy, but a wonderful mat for home use. Read more
leaves scuff arks and foot hand prints on mat, does not affect performance though, easy to roll up , good density Read more
This extra large and extra thick yoga mat is just what I needed to help me get back into yoga. I’ve gotten so overweight that the gentlest yoga poses were challenging and also painful on my knees and wrists. This mat removes the pain factor which lets me handle the challenging part better. Now I can be more consistent in my practice and that bodes well for my overall health. Best investment I’ve made in a long while! I highly recommend it if you’re currently heavier than your joints are able to handle and you’re determined to maintain a consistent practice. Read more
Exactly as described and exactly what I needed! This is perfect for anyone older or thin enough that hard surfaces are unforgiving. And the price and quality in comparison to some other standard Yoga/Exercise mats is great! Read more
