it is a mineral sunscreen so it’s expected to come with a white cast which is pretty bad at first but as long as u rub it in for a minute it does end up going away and i find it’s helpful to apply it in layers (normally just 2) to minimize the white cast. i have dry skin and it feels a bit oily so it might not be best suited if u have oily skin though it does sit well under makeup, i def recommend Read more
My wife and I were looking for a “reef safe” sunscreen for our 12-day trip to St. John. After reading reviews, we got two 3.4 oz. bottles of Hawaiian Tropic Mineral Sunscreen SPF50. One of the criticisms of reef safe sunscreen is that it doesn’t spread well. And yes, this was a bit more challenging to spread. But it wasn’t bad, really, and it’s nice to think you might be helping the reefs, which helps the fish, etc. The smell was wonderful—a tropical, coconut scent. We loved putting it on just for that! We’d start every day putting on sunscreen before getting dressed, then re-apply if needed after swimming. The 3.4 oz. bottle meets the standard for carry-on, so it traveled well through the airport. We thought we might need to buy more on the island (where it’s significantly more expensive), but the 3.4 oz. bottle each of us had got us through the entire 12-day trip, and we used it daily. We even have a little bit leftover! I’m sure we’ll buy this again, even if we’re not going near a coral reef. It’s a great product, and it worked very well—we got plenty of sun, and neither of us was sunburned even once! Read more
The spreadability is better than most mineral sunscreens. I never once had an issue with burning, and the sunscreen lasted throughout the day in intense sun. The was also a nice underlying sent that was quite pleasant. The only slight drawback is that like other mineral sunscreens, they leave your skin completely white. Being a little more thin and spreadable, it seems to transfer onto objects and sit on facial hair. Overall good product. Read more
Needed sunscreen to combat the burning sun in Mexico and decided to slather this all over my face. Big mistake, this made my whole face white and had me looking like a clown. Luckily I looked at myself in the mirror before leaving my room. I was shocked!! It was a great thing that I had a backup sun screen to put on my face and body. This is not made for any skin if it doesn't absorb into a clear coat. I had a good laugh when I looked at my face. I washed it off and didn't use this the whole trip. Too bad I ordered it well in advance of my trip so I couldn't return it. Read more
Great product. Perfect for carry on travel. Nice scent. Not greasy. Highly recommend. Read more
I like this brand and usually use their sunscreen, like the after-sun lotion. I didn't like this one. It was very thick, very greasy. It felt more like a thick cream than a lotion. Read more
Love this sunscreen for daily use. It goes on pretty sheer without a sticky or greasy texture and has a delicate barely there coconut scent. Read more
Went from a north state in the us all the way down to costa rica and brought this with me. I didn't burn once! I was outside pretty much the entire time and did reapply like they recommend. It smells really nice, it's not too strong, and it was moisturizing! I did have to put in a bit of work to rub it in, I also just had to let it sit and soak into my skin. At first you might think it will leave a white cast but I promise after like 5 minutes or so of letting it warm up on your skin the white cast will go away. I am naturally a bit tan so any white cast would've been very noticeable on me but I look fine in all my pictures! Read more
