Bought for use with more original hardware SNES. The cable arrived with a card noting potential issues with an earlier version of the cable. I was unfortunate and received a cable that was not wanting to send signal to the TV. The one time I was able to get a picture it was a bit on the blurry side, very bright, and was glitchy on the bottom of the screen. The seller responded to an email very quickly with a list of recommendations to rule out other potential causes. Once confirming the issue was with the cable the seller sent me a revised version that arrived with a few days. The seller even followed up to ensure the new cable was working after it arrived. The picture was darker when compared to the one time I had the older version of the cable working, but the image was stable with no glitching and the quality of the sprites was fantastic. Considering the conversion from such old hardware that was designed for CRT TVs, I would say the cables was doing an superb job. A+ customer service saved my experience with the product and has me rocking out nostalgia nights on my childhood favorites. While I do wish that Amazon initially shipped the revised version of the cable, the lack of comparable products on the market led me to be thankful to end up with a product that works so well. I'm not a purist, but this works quite well for what I was looking for. Compared it to using my AV receiver RCA inputs, as well as Gamestop's version of this device ($13.99 as of this writing). In my opinion, it works better than the Gamestop version (Gamestop device only outputs widescreen, which stretches the image, and also appears even more pixelated). Picture quality looked comparable to my AV receiver output, however the added switch on this device allows the image to output the original 4:3 (with black side bars), which is nice (my AV receiver was unable to output the 4:3 format, only stretched widescreen). Understandably, these are retro games, so the game image is going to be pixelated anyway, especially compared to how we remembered the older CRT's with scanlines. I don't have the Nintendo Online versions for comparison, but I imagine those will have slightly better graphics or clean-up polygons by the developer. But it's also nice not having to pay a subscription fee to play. Well worth the $30 (as of this writing) - not sure if I could justify $130, or even several hundred, for the better up-conversion devices out there that can simulate scanlines and crt pixel geometry, or options for pixel smoothing. Possible I'll want to try those later on, but for now I just wanted something to help play my old system on the newer HD TV's, and this seemed to do the trick. Happy gaming! Read more
Let me start by saying that mine arrived with an audio issue. The right audio channel would intermittently cut out. I contacted LevelHike and got a replacement without hassle, so this comes with some great customer service. Overall, this isn’t the best way to convert your consoles to HDMI, but I think it’s unbeatable for the price. Sound quality is pretty good, except for a slight static sound when no audio is playing. The image quality varies by console. I would say it’s quite good for SNES. It’s a little blurry for N64, but acceptable. For GameCube, the image was pretty dark for me even if I adjusted my display settings. I like that it’s an adapter that plugs into HDMI rather than the entire thing being an HDMI cable itself. The 4:3/16:9 switch is fantastic to have if you’re using a display that doesn’t have aspect ratio settings (I’m using a computer monitor personally). It comes with a USB cable for power but it worked without it and I didn’t notice a difference. I’m guessing it’s for situations where the HDMI connection does not deliver enough power from the display. If you want the best image quality, you will need different cables for each console, some very expensive adapters, and/or to mod the video output of your consoles. This just plugs in and works. I highly recommend this if you want to connect 3 different consoles to HDMI on a budget, and especially if your display does not have aspect ratio settings. Read more
Worked really good the first day but the second day it has connection issues. Nothing changed. And in the middle of playing itll go black screen then come back on. I will say this did help my game was not bright enough in game. It was the dark areas common apparently with n64 games on new tvs. So thats a plus. Now as long as the black out doesnt happen during key moments ill be ok lol. Havent reached out to custome support yet. Read more
