How many people does it take to unzip this item ? We don’t know it’s never been done . Whose idea was it to put the fur around the zipper? When I finally found it I couldn’t unzip it because the fur jammed the zipper. Then I tried to cut the fur from around it and that maid a mess . So I won’t buy again . Read more

This heated balaclava is very soft and decently warm without the heated element. You can feel the heat almost immediately but it takes about 10 minutes for the balaclava to get very warm on high setting. It isn't enough to burn you but it is uncomfortably warm indoors so I imagine the high heat setting is mainly for getting it warm or if you are in the extreme cold. I only have three negatives about this item. First is the zipper in the back it not very good. It is similar to the zipper on the back of women's dresses and the fibers from the balaclava constantly get into the zipper closure and it is very difficult to open and close. I tried to open it and close about 10 times and I was not able to open and close it easily on any one of these attempts. You will either need to shave some of the fibers in that area, always struggle with opening or closing it, or just leave the compartment open. This is the reason I gave 4-stars because it needs a more heavy duty, less concealed zipper for it to function well. My second negative is the material is decently thick and I did have some issues with breathing though it. It traps your breath and carbon dioxide there so I did struggle breathing though it some of the time. After focusing on controlled breathing it wasn't bad but you could always not cover your nose if it isn't too cold. The third negative is the control to turn it on/off (with a long press) and change the heat setting (short press) is lighted so you know the setting but it is impossible to see it and know what the setting is without a mirror. I don't know how they could fix this issue but the only way to tell if you are on high medium or low is it feel by the temperature it is outputting or to get a mirror. You could take it off, change the setting, and then put it back on too. Outside of those negatives, it is very comfortable and very warm. It heats up decently quick and is extremely warm on high setting. The battery is 6000 mAh which is pretty large especially for such a small heating element so it should last a long time. The heating element is in the back of the balaclava and does make a crinkling sound when touched which isn't noticeable when worn. I am very disappointed by the zipper closure as I would expect something better for the price but otherwise this is a very nice item. Read more

This has saved me. I have Trigeminal Neuralgia. I've had to brain surgery's for this. But there is still damage to the nerve. So I have constant pain in my face and ear. Even a breeze is painful. Even without using the Hwat settings this keeps me very warm. The Heat Settings all work really well and each heat setting/level are very efficient in their own way. The Pull Ties make this snug on my face, and the beads things keep the ties in place for as long as I please, without loosening even a pinch!
