The folding latch never worked properly -- the locking studs wouldn't retract enough to release the upper section. There was always some play; annoying and possibly dangerous. The latch finally broke when trying to fold the upper section down. Returned for refund. Edit: The importer contacted me. They suspected that I had been sent a damaged or returned example of this rail. After receiving a new, factory-sealed carton, I installed it as directed and this time, everything works as it should. The latch mechanism retracts and extends fully to allow the top section to be folded down, then raised and locked solidly in place. I am very happy with the replacement rail. Read more

This was a pain in the rump to assemble and install. The rail is sturdy enough to prevent an adult from rolling out of bed but when that rail is folded down, the exposed hinges are very painful and will leave bruises on thighs. UPDATED REVIEW 𝐀𝐝𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: This bed rail is designed to fit all mattress thicknesses BUT it did not fit my mattress thickness. When folded down, the device’s hinges sit right below the top of the mattress. Sitting at the edge of the mattress compresses it, and those hinges grind into your legs. Even swinging your legs over to sit up left nasty and painful bruises on my thighs. Assembly: The hardware falls apart regardless of how tightly they are closed. I was constantly picking up hardware from the floor. Injury: A few nights ago, the hinge for the guardrail, closest to my pillow, came completely undone while I was asleep with my back towards it. I turned towards the noise and fell out of bed. Now that rail is savagely crammed into the parts below so it can support my body while waiting for a different rail system to arrive.
