After getting thoroughly grossed out by a close inspection of my oven stovetop, and having no luck with soapy water and scrubbing, I decided maybe some steam would do the trick. This mesh covers my stovetop fan and has been accumulating grease for at least five years. I spent about ten minutes steaming it and scrubbing it with one of the attached brushes and I'm impressed with how much nicer it looks and feels (see the "before" picture with my hand in it, and the "after" without). While it didn't fully remove all the buildup, it did enough to leave a much cleaner-looking and -feeling filter, and that was without soaking it in any kind of solvent. After that successful experiment, I moved on to cleaning the oven hood, and I had even better luck. The hood only took a few minutes' worth of persuasive steaming to clean up as good as new. The steam easily loosened the greasy residue and as it condensed into water, I wiped all the grime off with practically no effort. The steamer was simple to figure out even for a total novice, with fairly clear instructions in the manual and details identifying each of the (many, many) attachments. It was very easy to attach the brushes and there's a wide variety of them included for any project you could possibly want to use steam for. I filled the tank with the provided measuring cup and funnel, and it was heated and ready to use after about ten minutes. There was a slight plasticky smell upon first use that I will keep an eye (nose?) on-- I suspect it's just the chemicals in the plastic tube reacting to heat for the first time. It did not appear to affect the functionality, though long-term we'll see how that tube holds up. The lock function on the handle is incredibly valuable, since there's virtually no risk of accidentally discharging steam. I found that it's a little finicky to unlock, but locking it (the more important of the two imo) went well enough. I made sure to lock it every time I needed to set the nozzle down to avoid any chance of a steam-related mishap. The pressure depends on how tightly you squeeze the handle. I used the steamer for about half an hour sporadically and it still had a decent amount of water (maybe half) left in the tank when I finished my projects. The tank rolled well on its wheels but was lightweight enough to carry, even with water inside. The additional length of tubes provides an excellent amount of reach for higher up on walls or lower for floors. The bright yellow is highly visible, making it less likely to get tripped on. The power cord is thick and sturdy. Overall, I'm impressed by the design and the versatility of this cleaner. It's exactly what I need for those tough-to-clean spots around the house. While I wouldn't recommend this for doing an entire room at a time (due to the steam capacity), or for professionals who may need more force, it's a great thing to have for general cleaning. This heavy duty steam cleaner comes with so many attachments it’s actually rather overwhelming. I doubt I’ll ever use half of them, but it’s nice to have options for every situation imaginable. I used the steam cleaner at my boyfriend’s house, after a stroke it’s hard for him to clean floors. So it’s been quite a while since they had a good scrubbing. A good girlfriend probably would have taken care of that chore a long time ago… but I used the heavy duty steam cleaner and it works really well. When you have dirty floors, it basically moves the dirt around and you need to clean it up separately with paper towel or a dry mop. The instructions say not to overfill the tank so I was being conservative and I didn’t put enough water in it and it did run out when I moved onto the kitchen floor. If I have a complaint, it would be that I can’t see the water tank so it’s hard to judge how much water to put in. The unit comes with a measuring cup and a funnel, but the unit of measure in the instructions doesn’t match the unit of measure on the cup. The unit steams very quickly, less than ten minutes. It works well at removing stains and ground in dirt. I was impressed with how clean the floors looked afterwards. I needed to add more water but because the tank is pressurized, you have to release the pressure before opening the top and I just decided to finish the kitchen another day. This steam cleaner is excellent and easily removes stains with minimal water leakage. The cord length is great, and no chemicals are needed. It comes with a good amount of accessories and has a great usage length time. I highly recommend this steam cleaner. My family has had great luck with it. I feel like a professional cleaner now. This steam cleaner has been so useful in cleaning the house floors and the car interior and we've been using it regularly. I know that professional cleanings and professional detailers use this kind to get to every nook and cranny so I'm glad to be having the same experience.
