I cannot review these waterproof pants until I've used them on my trip to Scotland. I'm taking a boat trip out to St. Kilda and was told I need to have waterproof raincoat and pants. Once I've returned from the trip, I can do a review. I leave for Scotland on June 8 and return on June 26. I will say this however, I've checked several places for waterproof pants and ordered and returned just as many. These Helly Hansen pants are made very well and the fit is not loose, but adequate to go over a regular pair of skinny leg jeans without me feeling stuffed into them. The zippers at the bottom of the leg are perfect for getting the pants on and off without having to undo whatever shoes/boots you happen to be wearing at the time, and that is a God-send in itself! Okay, I'm back from the trip to Scotland and these pants are THE BEST!!!! The winds blew and the rains blew and I was kept dry and warm as toast!!! I will keep these in my closet for whatever my next adventure may be because I know they'll do very well by me in the worst weather imaginable!! You can't go wrong with these pants. Very well made and a top performer!!!! Read more
These pants kept me dry during a day-long regatta in the rain on Boston Harbor. They were comfortable and warm. Highly recommend. Note - they run tight. I started with a small and returned for a medium. I normally wear a size 4. Read more
This Helly Hansen Seven J Pants is nice. The material is thicker and better quality than the north face one I had for years, but not so thick that it is not lightweight. The only thing is the size small is a bit snug with my wool pants underneath. The length was perfect for me. I also tried the Seven J pants in a size medium and it was too baggy. The medium's calves were looser, the length also good, but the hips and ass were HUGE! I'm sticking with the small and it's perfect with thin leggings underneath. The lower legs are lined with the same pants material and the rest of the pants is lined with mesh. Wish the entire pants was lined with the pants material. This is my first time ordering Helly Hansen. I'm 5'4" and wear a size 27" in jeans, but am bloated from too much coca cola. ;-) Read more
I have them on now! Purchased them for a cruise to Norway to see the Northern Lights, very comfy and warm. Didn't need long johns under. It snowed last night here at home, worn them in wind very warm! I love them. Read more
These pants had so much taper to the leg that they would only fit inside my boots! Rain pants don't do much good if they funnel the water into your shoes. Otherwise the fit was fine and the workmanship appeared ok. I sent them back. Read more
Bought for a runner in the family for those really rainy days. They work great. She easily knocked out 10+ miles in them with them being comfortable and doing their job keeping her dry. She is about 5'1'' and wore the small. They are probably slightly long for her. Read more
I'll never understand why outdoor clothing for women is made with such small hips. The waist seems to fit about as described by the company sizing guide. But, the hips are smaller than described - and the sizing only allows for 6" difference between waist and hips. Read more
I like these as they are thin and light weight, but keep me dry in the rain. Cool in the wind though, not providing a lot of wind protection. Also, they are cut narrow at the lower leg, causing them to ride up my muck boots. I have skinny calves so it’s not too bad but if you have wider calves, I’d recommend finding a different pair.
