I have a really gorgeous antique Globe Wernicke file box that works for my 4 x 6 recipe cards. I have been looking for something similar for my 3 x 4 recipe cards. I don't use them often because they are from my grandmas and great-grandmas (I've rewritten the ones I use all the time). However, I wanted to keep them in something other than a plastic shoe box in the closet. I've had this in my cart for a while and decided to go ahead and order it because I started cleaning out closets and trying to get the house organized. This arrived in perfect condition. The magnets work well and I can easily open/close the box. I am happy with the construction and feel of this box. The divided sections means that I can sort recipes easily. The plastic dividers are sturdy and a bonus. There are a LOT of them!!! Is it the same quality as my antique box? Of course not--but it doesn't feel flimsy at all. It didn't permeate the house with any funky toxic smells. The hinges seem sturdy but I wouldn't open it with out supporting the lid against something else. The best part is how lovely it looks next to my cookbooks. It seems like a lot of money to spend on a recipe box and I helped justify spending that much because I was helping preserve some family history. I was worried about ordering this but I am glad I didn't talk myself out of it. Honestly, I still haven't had a chance to get this loaded from my old recipe boxes, but I love it and the card separators. If you are looking for a well constructed recipe box, get this. It will last me until I am gone and then my kids will enjoy it. Read more
My old 3x5 metal boxes were getting rusty and nasty so I spent a little extra and got this one. It's nice enough to leave out if I wanted to. I had fun re-organizing all the recipes and even had my VERY old ones from mom laminated. Love it! Read more
Well made and exactly as described. Gloss finish wood is sanded down and beautiful. Hefty lift lid no lock and sturdy overall design. I use mine to hold journaling paper supplies and actually just purchased a second one. Inside is not gloss coated but still smooth. Read more

Bought this in October to hold thank you cards, and the top is already cracked and warped. This just sits on a desk, indoor, holding cards, not being touched, so it should not be broken already. Can't find a way to get a refund or replacement. Don't waste your money. Read more
