This is my second room of shades. I am extremely happy with the quality of the shades and the well done packaging when shipped. The mounting process is extremely easy. The matter motor was immediately recognized in apple homekit. I have an Apple TV 4K (make sure it supports matter) some Apple TV models don’t . I also linked the blinds to Alexa, some of the blinds took multiple tries to connect. Once you have shades in HomeKit, you then share the device in the HomeKit app, 2 of the 8 blinds were stubborn and didn’t want to be recognized. I ended up deleting the 2 from HomeKit and pairing again, that resolved the issue. One note, it was a little confusing if you need to put the shades in pairing mode to get them in Alexa, I discovered you don’t need to put them in pairing mode again. Overall I am extremely happy with the blinds. The battery life on my first room of blinds has been amazing, no need to charge at 6 months in. The directions shipped with matter motor didn’t include any details, I had to search for a how to mb Video online. I suspect the printed instructions aren’t ready yet as they just states carrying the matter motor. Highly recommend this product. Read more
These are pretty good blinds, but with a little effort they could be a great deal. They look modern. They work with Matter over Thread, letting them integrate with most modern smart-home systems. (You will need a Thread Border Router. If you don't know what that is, you probably shouldn't be buying smart blinds.) They operate well, whether via the integrated pull cord, the remote control, or via Matter. They provide effective shade without being fully light-blocking. Installation was more frustrating than it had to be; the instructions could be better written and the product better labeled. It's easy to get confused and try installing it in the wrong direction, which looks like it should work but doesn't—it'd be better if it was obvious it wasn't going to work except in the right direction. Instructions have odd translations in places, such as recommending you use an 0.2 inch punch—meaning you need a small *drill*, and Imperial drills usually come in fractional sizes. Once you figure out what is required of you, physical installation is straightforward. The unit itself is quite bulky due to the motor. If you're trying to install this under curtains, you may need to redo your curtain rod to accommodate it. It's better suited to being your sole window covering. The manual for the motor functions is particularly poorly translated, and can cause head scratching, especially since you need to manipulate small buttons on the underside of the shade in various patterns to get set up. You'll need a tool of some sort to poke the button that lets you configure the shade's length and set up Matter. While in "edit" mode needed for pairing, the shade continually jogs up and down, which can be annoying. Matter setup is fairly straightforward; I connected it to Apple Home with no more than the usual amount of trouble. That's not surprising; the motor is by Eve, an established name in smart-home technology. The Matter QR code is cleverly hidden inside the pull chain handle. From Apple Home, you can set the shade to any place within its programmed range of motion; the Eve app lets you set that range of motion and adjust other parameters. (You can also set range-of-motion using the little buttons and the pull chain.) The blinds are powered by an internal battery that can be recharged via a USB-C cable. The battery isn't removable, so you can't pop out the battery to recharge it; you have to bring power to the motor unit or dismount the blind from the window. That's inconvenient, especially if you don't have an outlet within 10 feet or so of the motor unit. The unit doesn't include a cord or power brick; you have to supply your own. The unit doesn't seem to accurately report its charge status to Apple Home via Matter, either. The default operating speed is on the slow side. The speed can be increased with the Eve app, but not using the built-in controls or Apple Home. So, yes, it's an Apple Home-compatible smart blind at a not-unreasonable price... but it could be so much better if it had a removable battery, a charger, better instructions, a bit better physical UI, and if they could make it physically smaller. I ordered this for my front picture window, which is behind my sofa. We've always used regular blinds there, which presents a bit of a pain when trying to close the blinds at night because we're either moving the sofa, or leaning over the back of it to open and close the blinds. Because it's rechargeable, we're only having to do that occasionally. This blind is super quiet and the quality is great. I do not use Alexa, as we have an Apple household. But the remote works just fine. What I will say is this thing is heavy. You definitely want to make sure it is secured well. I would have liked for it to be a little lighter in weight, but aside from that, this is a very nice, remote controlled, motorized blind. Read more
We have a hard to reach window and these blinds worked perfectly! They took less than 10 minutes to fully set up and the remote is very basic and easy to use. It comes with a remote holder that can be attached to your wall so you don't lose it. If the battery dies you are able to use the blinds with the cord but after several months of use we have yet to have to recharge the battery. You can use a portable charger if the blinds are not near an outlet. They help filter out most light but they do not work like black out curtains. We love them ! Read more
