I used 3 of these in recent years and they worked great. Two were for data backup (only powered on when needed) and the third was a slave drive in my current tower and never any issues at all with any of them. I have since upgraded to the 3TB HGST drives for my data backups but I still use the 2TB HGST in my tower along with a Samsung Evo 860 SSD for a boot drive. The HGST will be moved to my new tower once it's completed in the coming months. It sucks that HGST was phased out and absorbed by Western Digital, as HGST (owned by Hitachi originally) makes excellent HDD's. I'll buy them while I can! Read more

Fortunately for me it's basically identical to the replacement drive I needed. Advertised is SATA 6gb/s. On the drive that came is SATA 3gb/s. My usb 3.0 caps out before that so I can't utilize the 6gb/s speed anyways. Just be aware if you are expecting SATA 6gb/s you may receive 3gb/s, and the description or photos should be updated to reflect the correct product. Read more

I think there's something shady going on here because even though it's listed as a new drive, the enclosure looks clean, s.m.a.r.t basic info shows very few hours/low power-on cycle son it.......but I have it hooked up my unraid server and decided to give it an extended smart test. It found a few log entries on the drive around 47000 hours. I really think they did something to the controller firmware and these aren't as new as they appear. Read more
