This is my second HiBy unit the first was the $700 R6 Pro in stainless steel from 6 or 7 years ago. For the difference in price of $300 less, this unit is just as good and I can not tell the difference in sound quality from my old more expensive one. I only use it with my Bowers and Wilkins over the ear headphones and the Bose Resolve + II Speaker and it works perfectly with either the cable or Bluetooth. I have a Jeep Gladiator and neither this unit, my old HiBy, my Pixel phone or my wife's phone will work correctly with the Jeep installed infotainment system, so I assume it is the crap Jeep system that is the problem. The HiBy music App is good for what I need, but it includes lots of functions and acronyms that I have no idea what they mean or how to use. I just want it to turn on and play music which it does perfectly. At 70 years old I am beyond all of that Jargon. I have no problems using it to play my loaded CD's. I have installed a 1TB memory card and have about 3,300 Cd's loaded onto it in lossless format and the sound is superb. I have also connected it to my 7/2/2 home theater system and the sound is incredibly good but that is not my primary use for it. A streaming music service works well over WiFi but I have only used it with the Amazon Music. The unit feels good to hold, it looks good and I really enjoy using it, I would certainly buy it again, but I hope this one lasts longer than the six or seven years that my older unit lasted. I use it about 1.5 to 2 hours per day with headphones and maybe five or six hours on a weekend with the Bose speaker outside on the back porch. I charge it up every Sunday evening and so far it has not run out of power with around 14 to 16 hours a week of usage. Read more

I picked thisnup to compare to my Fiio m21. The Hiby r6 iii 2025 is slightly bigger with a slightly brighter screen, but otherwise, it is nearly identical to the Fiio m21 in specs. Same dac. Sound is very similar. The m21 had the better snapdragon chip (680 vs 665) and the m21 is faster and more responsive. Fiio has the better battery. Sound is a hair different, but I think I would struggle to tell the difference in a blind test. Fiio is lighter, slightly smaller, and has more versatility with its desktop mode. If you want a small, light DAP, but a little better screen, go for the hiby. If you want a snappier UI, and desktop mode (plus all to dsd mode), go for the Fiio m21, whichbis also $70 less expensive. Tested Headphone: Sony xm6. The sound is clean, transparent, and all settings shows professional designs of HiFi, HiRes attitude. The first ten minjtes of listening, I immediately fall in love with this hifi portable player. It also comes with DAC feature, this is another wow which surprised me. Handfeeling is slick and sturdy. It is a truly music playing art for music lovers who pursue true sound quality. It is also a great budget choice for music lovers who doesnt want to pay 2k+ for sony wm1zm2. Honestly I dont see any differences of the music performance between wm1zm2 and Hiby R6iii. Read more

The media could not be loaded. Want to like it so much but there’s too many problems with the device. Nice build quality and solid battery life. It could power everything I have. I can’t stand the hiby music app. I download all my music on one computer, transfer to the same sd card, and scan together yet the hiby app can play half and can’t play half. When I use other app like power amp or musicolet, they both recognize and play all the music. Read more

The HiBy R6 Gen 3 is an absolute powerhouse for music lovers. Right out of the box, the build quality is premium—sleek, solid, and comfortable to hold. The snappy Android interface and smooth touchscreen make navigation easy, and the MQA, DSD, and Hi-Res support ensure you get top-tier audio quality. The sound is detailed, balanced, and incredibly immersive. Whether I’m listening through wired or wireless headphones, the dual DAC setup delivers a crisp, full-bodied soundstage. The strong output power makes it perfect for driving high-impedance headphones without an external amp. Battery life is solid, and HiBy’s is well-optimized, making streaming and local playback seamless. If you’re looking for a high-quality DAP that competes with more expensive models, this is a fantastic choice! Read more

A solid unit, both operating and constructed well. Unit will accept up to a 2TB SIM card per the instructions. Instructions are brief, but navigating the unit operation is fairly easy. Plays external headsets, either via cord or Bluetooth, very well. Recommend purchasing this item and recommend adding a SIM card to order. Updating today, March 3/17/2026. Downgrading this review to one star. Initially, the unit would file transfer without problems. Now, with the correct data transfer cable, the unit will not populate on the PC as it once did. The firmware was updated on the WiFi, and the connection stopped after that. Read more

Nice packaging and build quality. Fantastic features and UI. Everything top notch except the last bit of sound. Not as quick, open or detailed as the Ibasso DX180. The sound from the Ibasso can be almost duplicated using the Hiby MSEB feature, but too much work to re-create. A very very good DAP, just not quite as good as the best in it's class. Really wanted to jeep it, just couldn't quite convince myself that I should. Keep up the good work and I'll continue to follow your wonderful products. Read more
