I picked this up for hotel and Airbnb stays, and it’s been exactly what I wanted: small, easy to carry, and surprisingly versatile. The different modes make it feel like an all in one privacy tool. The RF scan helps you quickly identify areas with active signals, the camera detection feature is great for doing a fast sweep of a room, and the magnetic sensing adds another layer of reassurance for checking for tracker style devices. There is a little learning curve at first (you’ll want to play with the sensitivity levels so you don’t get spooked by normal electronics), but once you get the hang of it, it’s fast and straightforward. I travel a lot for work and spend most nights in motels or small hotel rooms, so having something like this really matters to me. It does take a little time to get used to how it works. You have to practice with it and be patient, but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty helpful. I’ve noticed it works best in smaller, cleaner rooms like the ones you usually get in motels and hotels. It can even help spot things like hidden mirrors, which is something I always check for. As listing says, the majority of modes simply do not work. Mode 1: Red. Wifi detection. Yes. Pic3. Shows my wifi repeater. Mode 2: Blue. RF. Wireless cams and gps trackers. Pic2. No reading on my wifi cam, which I googled and also says it uses RF. So not sure what's going on here. I also tried holding up to a gps tracker. Nothing. Mode 3: Green. Magnetic. Smoke detector. Electrical socket. Pic4 Pic5. No reading next to electrical (when in use or not), or smoke detector. Mode 4: IR detector. This just shines IR light out and hopes it reflects off of a hidden lens :/ So yea. I guess look at other reviews. Maybe I'm using it wrong, but I don't think so. Only mode that visibly worked for me was Wifi, and not sure how helpful that is, as most routers are not hidden. Read more
The media could not be loaded. First off, the pink color is adorable! I tried it at home first and it was simple to figure out, even for a beginner. I was able to spot WiFi camera and it picked up signal from my AirTag. I love that I can just toss it in my purse and take it on the go, it’s compact and handy for checking bathrooms, dressing rooms and hotels. This small device does pick up some signals, but I would not trust my security to it. Cameras are detected by reflection of the four LEDs in the back, as the red lens does not make infrared lights visible. The magnetic field detector only identifies open magnets, not ones attached to a metal surface. The radio frequency detectors only detect nearby transmitting devices. Perhaps this gadget could offer some reassurance to an overwrought traveler, but a true security sweep requires better equipment and techniques. The accompanying instructions can be alarming. The glyphs for “antenna” in Chinese also translate to “connection to high-ranking officials,” the printed phrase. Other aspects of operation such as sensitivity adjustments and button operation are similarly mistaken or unclear. While sweeping a room generally is harmless, common sense is in order. Books and plushies generally do not have radios, but “smart” light bulbs do. The lock on the door probably checks in with the front desk to prove it is still online; could you tell the difference if it had been modified to eavesdrop? Not with this device. If a GPS tracker was stuck to the bottom of your car, this device won’t find it as the magnets are against metal and the radio is likely off when stationary. Wasn’t sure what to expect given the price, but so far, it seems to work great. I travel a lot for work and sometimes stay in Airbnbs, so I decided to try this for the peace of mind.
