I do a lot of business and personal travel, staying in a mix of national brand hotels as well as private homes through the various online rental options. Unfortunately, in recent years the reports of hidden “spy” cameras in the news have increased significantly. With the advances in camera technology, these hidden cameras get ever smaller, yet the resolution and capabilities are ever more impressive. Therefore, I made the decision to invest in this hidden camera detector to protect myself to avoid becoming a victim to being spied on. I decided on this specific device since it has multiple detection modes. It has six levels of sensitivity to WiFi signals, allowing you to track down devices that send out a WiFi signal to connect to a router (such as a WiFi spy camera or audio listening device), it scans a broad range of frequencies to detect devices sending signals across commonly used frequencies. Most impressive, with the LED scanner, it allows you to scan a room to detect camera lenses in devices which will shine similar to how a cat’s eye shines when light reflects from it. I tested the detector to ensure I knew how to best use it during my travels. I was able to quickly track down the signals my home devices sent out, as well as recognize the lenses of several of my own camera devices. Given how small the device is, and that it has an internal rechargeable battery, I keep it in my travel bag to have on me to check any location for hidden devices before settling in. I bought this product to scan rental properties for hidden cameras. Unfortunately I couldn't get it to pick up my security cameras or my phone camera. The wireless signal detector seemingly goes off randomly and didn't react when placed close to known radio transmitters. This seems like a kids spy toy, and I wouldn't recommend it for any serious adult trying to protect themselves or use it as a real tool. Had to return the device unfortunately. Read more
