This rectangular 8 gallon trash can is PERFECT for the narrow space in my small kitchen! I downsized from a 13 gallon can because I never filled the tall kitchen trash bags & hated wasting all the extra plastic I wasn’t using. My old 13 gal SimpleHuman can lasted over 15 years and survived many, many long distance moves (I’ll find another use for it) It was a super slim design, and finding a smaller alternative proved challenging. I really liked the looks of this model and it’s narrow enough to tuck into the space left by my SimpleHuman can. The slow closure is a great feature, and 8 gallon bags fit snugly without having to use the convenient built-in band. I’m giving it 4 stars because the lid quality is a bit THIN & I’m not sure it’ll last like my SimpleHuman can did. It buckles slightly when I put pressure on it, which will be a problem in the future as I had occasionally used my old trash can lid to rest grocery bags (or huge 30 lb bags of cat food) on. I’m planning to reinforce it somehow, or else find another convenient resting place for groceries, tho’ I’ve pretty much used every available surface in my small kitchen. Not a big deal in the scheme of things, but it would’ve been nice to have a sturdy lid to begin with! I had a narrow area that my trash can fit into and I had a round trash can that was very tight in the spot. The old trash can broke and this new trash can fits perfectly in the spot. It is sized perfectly for me. Very slow closing lid. Read more

These are a nice, small profile trash can. I live in an apartment with an open floor plan and don't want some nasty looking trash can in my kitchen that can be seen from the living room and dining room. I got a second one for the bathroom as it also has my washer dryer hook ups, and I don't have to wander to the kitchen with a handful of dryer lint to dispose of that. Also, as our dumpsters here are a half-block away from me, I can use the bathroom trash can when the kitchen one gets full and I don't want to walk down there if the weather is bad. Read more

I got this trash can in August. It was easy to place, get a bag set, and the lid closure was nice and slow. We are only 3 months into usage and the lid no longer closes slowly. It slams shut. This is even with lubrication of the hinges. I did not see the "frequently returned item." I mean it'll hold your trash but no one likes a loud bang when a lid closes. So. I have to say this product should probably be skipped. Read more
