The media could not be loaded. This unit made great ice cream.. when it worked. We purchased this and used it maybe 10 times over the last year, but plugging it in this last time the on/off button on the LCD screen works, but no other buttons work. It will not chill or make any ice cream anymore and I am sure its all related to the very problem-prone LCD touch screen buttons, but the unit doesn't work at all anymore. I have not tried to follow-up with the company and just read these reviews to see if this is a common problem.. and it was reported by one other person. but ours no longer works at all. I will update this review with a status if I can get a response from the manufacturer to somehow make this right. Electronics sould not fail after using only 10 times, screen and all led buttons light up, but nothing responds to a touch and we cannot use, nothing works. Read more

The French vanilla custard ice cream came out perfectly soft served just like Milwaukee style Kopps ice cream! I was very impressed with the machine but The instructions are truly terrible. What’s most annoying is that it reads like a science geek trying to explain discrete math and quantum mechanics to a 12 year old. It’s impossible to simplify what’s written here for the average user. The media could not be loaded. So, I bought one of the machines made by Whynter. Total dud. Didn't even turn on. I ordered this one from Homtone for next day delivery. And I got it next day. Brought in and set it up. Worked like champ. In 28 minutes, I had 16 ozs of homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream. This little machine works like a champ! I am a medical marijuana patient and I make infused milk to put in coffee and now ice cream (h'ice cream!) and this little machine is going to be very busy making h'ice cream! Love it! Read more

I thank all the previous reviews. I am very happy with the HOMTONE model: ICE-1560Y (DS-1138). I was intrigued by a PBS Scandi Cooking episode where Andreas made Honey Ice Cream with a similar machine. I have recipes from many sources to guide my base custard making and flavor experiences. Don't look to the included recipe book for your only ice cream learning. It is a nice touch but very basic. Read more
