A great choice when you want to pay for good quality.
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Regardless of what Amazon's top-picks are, I've learned the hard way that appliances made by manufacturers I haven't heard of never last. There's a reason the prices are always lower than you'll find with established brands. I own another older Honeywell portable A/C than ran 24 hours a day for about six years (well beyond the expected life and operating envelope). It still works okay, just struggles with the hot summer temperatures more than it used to. Cooling ability: Excellent. Can keep a bedroom at around 62 degrees (F) while outdoor temperatures are hovering around 100. While not elaborated on in the literature, this product has two hoses. One is the traditional hot air exhaust, and the other an outdoor air inlet hose. This is apparently to prevent the negative room pressure you traditionally get with portable A/Cs, and it seems to work very well. Ease of installation: When installing on a wider window, you will ideally want a saw so you can size-down the included plastic window shield that the hoses connect to for ventilation, but you can carefully use a kitchen knife to achieve this if necessary. Functionality: My only complaint is that the minimum temperature is 61 instead of 60, like their older products could be set to. But I doubt it really matters. I live in a semi-arid climate where summer humidity averages about 50% overall throughout the day/night, and I have never had to manually drain the water reservoir. By contrast, every other portable A/C I've owned prior did require draining, so the evaporative disposal capacity is quite good. Read more
