I've never had a coal management device but after using this I'll never go back to aluminum foil. The coal manager is very easy to use, just place on your bowl, and it works great for what it's designed for. The smell of the coal is kept off the shisha by keeping it in the manager and the Length of time per burn seems to have increased slightly. It's very durable too and easily withstands drops from the bowl. Overall it's a great coal manager that I've noticed extends the Length of time per coal which is very cool. Real easy to assemble and use. One step assembly: screw heat resistant handle in cover. Done. Place whatever you like inside and put the top on. Fits on top of the hookah just fine. Doesn't wobble. I still like to use foil for easy cleaning but this did not come with any. I wish the heat resistant handle was a tad thicker for weight control of the contents one puts inside. Stays open. When the package showed up it felt lighter than expected so I wasn’t sure what to think at first but after opening it I could see the build looked solid and the lid had a nice snug fit that made me curious how it would hold up during a long session. The first test was during a backyard hangout with a couple friends and honestly I wasn’t sure what to expect because some of these coal holders get way too hot or make the session harsh fast. Loaded it up with two coals and let it heat for a few minutes and surprisingly it didn’t overheat the bowl at all. The airflow was more controlled than what I’d been using and the handle didn’t get ridiculously hot which helped when adjusting mid-smoke. Cleaning was simple too just knocked out the ash and wiped it down later that night without much sticking. Used it again solo the next night just to see how it handles longer chill sessions and even with three coals it stayed consistent without making things too intense. Read more

I was excited to try this HMD since I've never had a proper one for myself but have seen how they can be super useful at hookah bars and at friends' places. I've used it twice and it has some good qualities! They don't outweigh the issues. This aluminum HMD fit my standard size bowl and the slight ridges on the bottom kept it in place. I usually put 4 coals on my hookah to start and my sessions generally require one change of coals. Because the HMD kept the coals hotter for longer, I ended up takin one of the coals off and never needed to put on a second set. In fact, the coals were still a good size and hot when I decided I was done after a couple of hours. When I started my session I had to wait longer for the shisha to heat up than I normally do. Once it got going, it was fine. The biggest problem is that the handle on the cover/top piece gets hot even though it's not supposed to. It's not insulated well enough from the metal, and at one point I almost burned myself. That's unacceptable. This is one of the more inexpensive HMDs I've seen and that was attractive to me at first. Now I can see why people pay more for good ones. In the end, if you don't think you'll use the top cover then this could be a decent HMD. Still, if they can't even make it so that handle doesn't get too hot, their overall quality and attention to detail is suspect. Read more
