I originally bought these to be included as stocking stuffers last Christmas for friends who work outside. During that crazy winter storm we had in January, my power was knocked out. By the time I got home from work, around 10pm, the temperature in the house got down to 35 degrees Fahrenheit. The package says not to sleep with these. However, it was ridiculously cold, I was miserable, and I didn't know when the power was going to come back on as they kept pushing the estimated time back every few hours. So, I took 2 out of the package, shook them and put them in my bed, not touching me, but not far away. I covered up with 4 blankets and in about 15 - 20 minutes, I could feel the warmth. It lasted all night. The power came on about 7 am and the furnace came back on. I was however, nice and warm under the blankets due to these. It allowed me to get sleep. We love this brand. We've bought this brand for 20+ years. We use it for inside our gloves, in our pocket to keep our legs warm, in the side of our socks to keep our feet warm. Lasts throughout the night when we sleep with them in our sleeping bags (although it does warn to be cautious if you are using these while you sleep, because they could get too hot and uncomfortable on the skin while you sleep, that's why I don't put it directly on my skin while I sleep). A case should get me thru the winter. These are so amazing. I regularly hang one out for my mail woman when the temperature drops. I've actually used them to warm my feet, in bed on especially cold nights...I keep the house cooler than most, for a variety of reasons. The original and best hand warmers. If you or kids like outdoor activities in winter these are great. They warm up in a few minutes when exposed to air ( make sure they are up to temp before placing in ski glove pockets etc or they may not warm up) and stay hot, not just warm for hours.
