I finally swapped out my old wooden hangers, and wow—what a difference. My previous ones were so thin that they left a weird shape on my jackets like they’d been stored on a coat rack in a haunted house for years. The metal hanger part swivels easily within the wooden part. The metal is embedded inside the wood to a depth of almost half (43% as best I could measure) the height of the wooden portion at the top. The metal is secure inside the wood. I pulled it much harder than it would ever experience under normal conditions, and it did not budge at all. The pant bar is just under ½ inch in diameter, is plenty strong and is secured by a screw, inserted from the bottom on each end and is recessed into the wood so that it is not visible unless one is looking from underneath the hanger. Plastic tubing that is inserted around the pant bar (obviously before assembly since it is continuous around the bar) has longitudinal ridges that are effective in preventing clothing from slipping off the pant bar. The widest part of the “wings” on either side are 1-1/4 inches front to back and are almost 3/4 -inch thick. This decreases slightly toward the center of the hanger where the thickness (probably better referred to as “height” at this point) rises to enclose the metal hanger. The wooden thickness/height at the center is 1-3/4 inches. I don’t think there is any question that these hangers are strong. The design is such that there should be no issue with “hanger imprint” on the shoulders of whatever is hung on them even for an extended period of time. These are absolutely fantastic hangers and exactly what I’ve been searching for to properly hang my suit coats. Regular thin hangers often cause shoulder deformation, but these wide-shoulder wooden hangers provide the support needed to maintain the coat’s shape—especially for petite adults, teens, or smaller-sized suits. The material is smooth and well-finished—no rough edges or splintering. They slide into the coat easily without catching or dragging on the fabric, which is a major plus. These are solid wood, very sturdy, with very wide and smooth shoulders. If you want to protect the shoulders on any of your clothing, you can't do better than this. They're excellent hangers for heavy garments (like winter coats). They're also great for delicate items that are prone to undesirable creasing on the shoulders. I got the natural finish. The ribbed plastic on the circular cross-bar will prevent pants from slipping. Just one (out of six) of my hangers had a very slight blemish/scraped area in the finish (I tried to capture it in a photo), but it is barely noticeable and certainly does not affect the functionality in any way. If you have expensive garments that you want to protect, these will do the job well. You won't go to your closet and discover that your hanger has broken and your garment is lying in a crumbled heap on the floor. You won't have your garments falling off the hangers while you're moving clothes around. These (potential) frustrations that can happen with cheap hangers are eliminated! Read more
