I bought this printer after wanting to decrease my ink cost from a laser printer. I expect my print quality to be high, and I figured I wouldn't be able to find a quality printer. Boy was I wrong! After trying a few other brands with liquid ink, I bought this one and it did not disappoint. The ink is super easy to install, and the quality is near laser, but it's difficult to know the difference! I bought this so I could print my own cards for birthdays, anniversaries and anything else. Now I'm printing quality cards that I make myself, and I couldn't be happier! Once my husband found out I wasn't worried about ink consumption and how cheap the refills were, he's printed hundreds of pages of color for his classes, and they come out just beautiful! He wasn't too sure about me wanting to upgrade to a color printer, but now he loves it as much as I do! I have only used the scanner a few times because I have a document scanner that does more. However, the scanner works fine for larger or book scans. If you don't have another scanner, you will like at least having the option to scan. I especially like this printer over its larger models because the paper is SUPER easy to load! The larger ones need you to remove the entire front of the tray before putting paper in. This one you just take a stack of paper and slip it into the front of the paper tray. I can load it very easily from my chair without removing any parts. The printer connected to the wireless network pretty easy, and adding it to our phones and other computers was a breeze! I do notice every once in a while when the network is having trouble, it will scan for wireless networks and disconnect & reconnect. That usually isn't a problem, just something for you to know. After owning the printer a few weeks now and printing about 400 sheets of color AND about 50 greeting cards, the ink still reads full. I'm really looking forward to saving money on ink. I use the IP address to connect to the printers' interface, and I love that more than its software. Both work fine and similar. I highly recommend this HP SmartTank Printer for anyone who wants to save on money and have quality printed products. Read more

I have been a loyal HP printer advocate since my days as an intern at Microsoft in product support in 1989. I've been purchasing only hp printers since that time due to their great quality and reliability. I purchased a different hp printer about 16 months ago (HP Envy 6400) and got to experience the horror of the ink subscription -- I chose the lowest cost option with the ability to print 10 pages per month. I use the printer seldom enough that I thought this would work -- I have yet to EVER receive any additional ink, but I continue to pay and get dinged when I go over my page limit. This printer wasn't super reliable for the first 6 months -- getting constantly offline and we would have to reboot our internet and the printer and our computer several times to get it to print. It seems to have stabilized in the past year. I am not a fan of the ink subscription as I only use this printer for about 5 months out of the year and don't understand how I have to pay extra for going over the page limit when I thought that the unused pages accumulated and rolled over. Now on to this printer -- our old HP all in one inkjet finally broke after about 9 years of intermittent use and I debated trying another printer brand but ultimately decided on this one. Giving HP one last chance. I didn't want to worry about page limits and ink subscriptions and the reviews for this were pretty good so I decided to try again. Well, after 6 months of constantly having the printer go offline, pieces breaking off and today, it just would not produce more than 1 page after several of the aforementioned reboots of printer and computer, we just can't get it to even print on a regular piece of paper. I was trying to feed dark t-shirt transfer paper through and it would just jam. In addition, it would not feed sticker paper through which makes it really unusable for working on my cricut projects. I'm sure our page count for this printer is under 500 pages and it's now just e-recycle. HP you have lost a lifetime customer. Read more

I bought this with one eye closed, as I was leary about taking a chance on another tank printer. Until recently I've only owned HP, but when I started printing nearly 300 2-sided community newsletters each month and I became frustrated with the fact that I was having to wait up to two weeks for my ink to arrive through the subscription (hp became notably slower after I upped to 500 pages per mo). Once I started having printhead issues I was wasting even more ink & subscription pages. I bit the bullet and bought the Epson Ecotank 2850. HUGE mistake. The way they can maintain their claims of long lasting ink supplies is to severely limit you on your ability to adjust print quality. Unlike HP, you have very little control. I ended up keeping my old HP Just for color prints and fighting with it each month because the Epson colors looked faded and muddy compared to the crisp bright colors HP puts out. Sadly, it gave me the last of what it could offer me half way through this month's printing and I had no choice but to start shopping for a new one. I was insecure about another tank printer, fearing I would run into the same problem I have with the Epson, but WOW. The attached photo only slightly shows the difference in quality of prints but I promise you, the in person difference is striking. Plus, the HP ink bottles & tanks are substantially bigger than the Epson so I expect they'll last longer. The set up was a breeze. It connected automatically and the set up instructions were so detailed that a toddler could probably do it. If you're torn about whether or not to try this printer, I encourage you to go for it. It's really that good. Read more
